I have been everywhere trying to buy bits for my Excel pin vise, and I am being thwarted by the Gods of All Things Mini. Does anyone know a good, fast (and dare i say cheap) supplier for those little twisted buggers that like to snap off in the armpits of my Confrontation minis? Rescue me... ???

I have bought replacement bits for my pin wise in my local DIY store without any problems. They have a section were they sell Dremel and similar tools and the drills fit perfectly for my pin vise (I have the GW one, but I asume it is similar to to the Excel ??? ).

For knife replacement blades I go to a artist supplies store. They have a vast selection of different blades.

Hi,

Here in the Netherlands I get my spare blades in a hobby/model/railroad-shop, and my drill-bits preferably in a shop that is called a \'ijzerwarenhandel\' in dutch, uhm, that should translate into english as something like a ironware- or hardwarestore. The drill-bits aren\'t especially meant for modellers, but are ordinary metal-drill-bits ranging from 0.5mm and up; they cost me about 0.50euro. With the blades always make sure to pick a good type of blade, though they may be a bit more expensive, I\'ve hade some rather unpleasant experiences with (partly) braking blades.
Good luck finding your sources!

I have an Excel pin vise too...just like every pin vise and my luck struck when i bought it... 20 metres from the store i bought the pinvise in was a store which sells drills from 0,5mm to 3 :D

I think you can find some bits in DIY stores.. home depot.. et cetera. But i think www.micromark.com has some.

Thanks for the tip, Frenchkid. Though I haven\'t busted near as many drill bits since I put away the pin vise and started using my dremmel.

Did drill through my finger once. Now THAT smarted. lol

Pretty much any hard ware store will carry them. You just have to ask. Generally if the Carry Drills and Drill Bits they will carry one small enough for pin vises.

I bought the GW pin vice a couple of years back and all was sweet. I\'d never had one before (how did I manage?) and the simplest thing to do was to pick one up whilst I was buying some paint one day. Brilliant until I bust the the finest bit that came in the pack! And do GW sell bits in store? Do they f*@! I don\'t know if mail order sell them (doubt you could buy individual bits though), but postage costs make that a bit of a no no. The store guy suggested I try the model shop near by as that\'s where they buy theirs. So now I use my friendly model shop (well, I say friendly but I mean ignorant. When it comes to service they couldn\'t do less for you. Something I\'m becoming accustomed to in this part of the world!).

Hey I bought one of those GW pin vises too.. that thing is junk the bit holder is plastic and if you twist too hard on it it will leave a smash on the inside part on the holder which makes using it for smaller bits a waste of time. Just a suggestion find a real hobby store, the kind that sells model railroading stuff and model kits they usually have a good selection of tools. Mine carries bits as small as .002 although what you might use that for is beyond me lol.
