Paragons vs Warlocks team abilities

Had this come up the other night in a game between Paragons and Warlocks. Had a Paragon figure turned into a Frog who loses his team ability. If I use another paragon in a contest, can I bench the frog to get +2? Same situation if a figure is knocked down with boot to the head?

I guess the point is, do both the figure involved in the contest and the figure you're benching need to have access to the team ability, or just the figure in the contest "using" the ability?

Hello,

My personal interpretations are as follows:
- Frog. Probably technical, however the Warlocks ability states that the frog is a token, and the Paragons ability states that you must bench a figure. I'd say you cannot bench a token.
- Boot to the Head. The card states that the team loses its team ability, not the booted figure. While affected by Boot to the Head, none of your figures have access to their team ability. (I questioned that bit in another thread.)

Have fun! =)

Hi tristevoix, cheers for the response. We should have read that Boot to the Head card better, we've been playing only the figure knocked down loses the team ability! Good pick up!!

As for the frog token, the FAQ says the "Yes, the frog token counts as a figure on the field. As such it occupies a space, and can be tackled or attacked". Surely that means it counts as a figure for all other purposes also, such as benching by team abilities (Goblins, Paragons etc). My only concern is that it doesn't have access to it's team ability and in the case of the Paragons, do both the figure involved in the contest and the benched figure need that, or just the contest figure?

K, so we both glazed over some info.

Still, then the FAQ also states that a knocked down figure cannot use its team or ringer ability, yet the Paragons (as far as I know) can bench a knocked down figure. But then the Warlocks curse states the frog has no team ability. Also the frog figure isn't one of your team member figures (that is a paragon figure). By the way, does a frog fights back using it's team stats? I'll leave other more knowledgeable people handle that one, then. :dont-know:

Anyway, I think considering the frog a token to be ignored was way simpler. The idea of a frog being being able to do more than a knocked down team member seems weird to me. :confused2:
