Palm tree

Hi,

I have a mission to create good looking, cheap and easy to make trees. This is my latest test piece, my first ever palm tree. It´s made from copper wire, Fimo, sand and tape. It took about two hours to make and one costs about 1€.

For some unknown reason I couldn´t get good pictures and had to photoshop a lot. I try to take better pics later. (It looks much better in reality :innocent

I like the palm trees on the Hirst Arts Tips & Tricks. I made a whole lotta these and they turned out quite nicely.

The idea is good, but it\'s too regular, smooth and featureless to look realistic, need more than two branches, some bumps in the bark, less regular lines and more leaves.
But the material look good to me so you can keep going in the same direction.

Hate to bring this up, but most palm trees do not branch. Straight up with a bunch of fronds (large leaves) at the top.

yeah, the branching thing, also the bark is not like palm trees. They grow in shoots that make it look like a stack of cups.
The bark you\'ve done is very nice if you are doing an oak or ash tree.

Yes, I know. I tried to find a way to do realistic palm bark but it just didn´t work. Best idea I had was to glue pieces of cone to it but it would have taken hours to glue them on one by one. After all this goes to a scifi game so I didn´t worry about realism too much

Thanks, I changed the link to my first post as well.

Edit:You are propably right about the branch thing but I´m sure that I have seen palms with two or even more branches. But most of my palms will have no extra branches, I promise.
