Painting Wolves

Hey

I was wondering is it would be a good idea instead of painting SW with Codex Grey and highlights of SW Grey would look good cause I posted a few pics of my wolves and it didnt go over well. Not saying that I took it hard I just want my growing army to look good and not a awful looking army. I also think that SW Grey is to light and not brutal enough so, but thats just my oppion. As of now Im just drybrushing Codex Grey over Chaos Black and with the knee pads and one of the sholder pads Red Gore. I was just wondering all and any comments welcome.

for a start i wouldnt drybrush over black like that. they end up looking too dark imo. basecoat in the darker grey and then highlight with the lighter greys

If you are finding that the \"mainline\" paints aren\'t working for you on the bascolours try the Foundation Fenris Grey as your basecoat.
It might give you the starting point you need to achieve the Space Wolf look you want.

One thing I try to avoid where possible is the mixing of Black into other colours. It doesn\'t always work and sometimes can make the paint look muddy and \"False\".
If you only have access to GW colours then you\'ll need to start looking at a colour wheel and think about adding complementary colours to your base to get the darker effect for the shadows.
If you can get some Vallejo Model Colours then there are a number of Blue Greys in the range that might assist you.
