Painting Vampire Flesh

Hi,
I\'m trying to paint a horde of vampire miniatures I have, and not too sure how to approach the flesh.. The first vampire miniature I did was a Nosferatu looking one. I started with a base of a Navy Blue, and dry brushed white.. It looked fairly good, but the blue was very dark in some spots. Any other suggestions for painting vampire flesh?

for really white flesh, I like to use Vallejo\'s Cork Brown as the darkest shadows (it\'s normally one of my highlights). Adding a bit of purple, green or blue will also help. Brom\'s artwork is really good for looking at very pale skintones.
Hope this helps!

For darker but pale skintones mix some Vallejo Dark FLeshtone with Imperial Blue then add Pale Flesh or Ratting Flesh for highlights. Then highlight with just Pale or Raotting flesh, it looks a bit purplish blue but still looks like skin.

Blue Vampire Skintone

Undead! My fave! ;)

Anyway, I did a nosferatu style strigoi that came out really well. He\'s here on CMoN.

There\'s 5 layers on the skintone. All colors are Reaper Pro Paints, thinned with (of course) the Magic Future Wash(tm).

Here\'s the recipe for the skintone:

  1. 2 parts Ash Gray, 2 parts Ice Blue. Thin to milk-consistency, and splat over the whole skin area.
  2. 2 parts Ash Gray, 1 part Ice Blue. Thin a little more than the mix above, and give the model a good wash to darken the creases.
  3. 1 part Ash Gray, 2 parts (or 3?) Ice Blue. Start picking out highlights. Thin a little, but be careful not to let it run. Adding Future helps it to be a little translucent, which is a good thing.
  4. Ice Blue. Highlight more.
  5. 1 part Ice Blue, 2 parts Dragon White. Final highlight, picking out only the highest parts of the model.

(You can also get this recipe, along with some others and more pix at my site Mini-Painting Kicks Ass!
