Painting spearpoles

I am almost finished painting my DE Beast Master but im not sure how to approach painting this charcters spear pole. There are no raised details so it seems a bit daunting - i dont want to ruin the rest of the mini. Anyone have any ideas? Thanks

cylinder....

Well, assuming the spear pole shaft is basically cylinder, I would try to paint it with a SENMM effect.

There are some tips for that sort of thing in the article section, but here is the link to one by Chrispy..

I would think that Dark Elves\' spear shafts would be fashioned out of metal, not wood, so painting it like a dark reflective metal might be neat.

Good luck!!

If you want it to be wooden, paint dark brown, slighty uneven lines down it, then highlight those as if they were normal textured wood.
here\'s an example:

hope this helps

I agree with DennisMach, I think that a woodgrain effect would work well on the DE beastmaster. I dont think that a metal spear shaft would suit the rest of the model.

Well if it\'s only going to be for gaming and you want to make the shaft in wood than I would sugest you highlight it by making horizontal strips of the highlight color on the front of the shaft. It looks goodd from farway and isn\'t really hard to do. You can exemples of that on Dave andrews empire spearman.
