This is the 1st time i post here, so please tell me if there was another thread on this.

I bought a Forgeworld eldar waveserpent but i never painted resin, so i wanted to ask you master painters and modellers if you have any tips, is it much different from plastic and metal? do i have to wash the mini? what kind of brushes should i use?

Thanks in advance.

yes..wash the mini...use dish soap and warm water and gently scrup it...make sure you clean all mold lines. and fill in gaps with gs or what you please. Try you best after washing it not to touch it too much..the oils on your skin could mess with primer.

what you should do...

use car primer instead of hobby primers. FW states that car primer seals the resin instead of being absorbed. I tried a car primer on my FW dreadnought and it left a niec smooth surface.

After priming, spray with purity seal (satin varnish) or matte varnish (even gloss is fine I imagine).

THe varnish will help protect the primer as you hold the model if it\'s too large to hold via a base or via a pin.

Nope, not if you\'re talking about a similar style of mini of around the same size. Priming is a very good idea, depends on where you are what to recommend.

Probably a good idea.

Same as you\'d use for anything.

I used to be in the resin business. One odd thing resin can do is what we used to call fish eye. Even after being washed it can resist the primer and you end up with these wierd circular areas where the resin has pushed the paint away. One way around that is to VERY lightly mist the model, let it dry, mist it again, then once you have a bit of a coat on it you can really lay it on. I also had some luck with warming up the model to about 120 F (held it next to a light or some such thing) and the primer dried so quick that it couldnt move. Dont get it HOT.

You should was all minis all the time...sometimes a release agent is left on the mini (plastic too!) and in the long run it can really cause some problems.
BETTER SAFE THAN SORRY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
