Painting NMM rust

Ok I am working on The Crow for confrontation and I am trying to paint him to look all rusted.

I am using the folloiwng colors. (all Vellejo)

Red leather
Smoke
Wood Grain
Bronzed Flesh

Right now after a few washes it looks somewhat rusted, but mostly orange. What else would you add?

I always use VMC Beige Brown as the base colour for rust. Sometimes I mix it with Red Leather if I want it a bit more red and sometimes I add Orange Brown to make more distinct rust stains. Smoke is good for shading.

Mix some brown & black ink and dilute highly. Use this to wash over the metal and it darkens the rust effect nicely.

i have to say thanks to Astonia for this technique. It\'s what she used to great effect on her Paint Aid Ogre.

One nice way to do rust is to do it in a \'bullseye pattern\'. Do a large, very thin, black area. Inside of that do a smaller thin brown. Inside that do a smaller reddish brown. And finally put some spatterings of bright orange-red-brown. Remember gravity. If it is something static like a terrain piece have the whole thing elongated downward.

I got a Pm from her saying she will be at Gamesday Uk this year. But she doesn\'t have internet access at home at the moment.

Anyone going to UK Gamesday will easily spot her.......
She is very tall, Dwarfed me and I\'m just under 6ft.
