and a 3rd one: http://massivevoodoo.blogspot.de/2011/06/tutorial-painting-marble.html

I like the result from the chest-of-colors most, but so far I tried the MV one, because it looked easier to do.

extra 2:
- MiniatureMentor's Ben Komet's bases video (at the end)

- one I read in a magazine, that looked promising and extremely simple: with a very diluted paint do a blob on the base, after it starts to form the dreaded ring (what we normally avoid) take the rest off with a brush. The result looks a lot like a vein in the marble.
do it a few times with a few similar but different shades and you'll be done. The pic that showed the result looked super.

Acrylic with a tiny drop of alcohol creates some pretty interesting and complex marbling effects, if control and precision are not necessary.

...Aaaaand the thread is successfully de-railed. See? SEE? This is what puns do. They punish the innocent. :quiet:

Acrylic paint or medium? And what kind of alcohol? Denatured, isopropyl, rubbing? Thanks

I've seen something similar using table salt or kosher salt instead of alcohol.

Definitely. I used to do that for "snowy" paintings when I was a little kid. It's more of a speckled effect than the alcohol, which runs, as I remember.

Dud i have no experience into the paint of marble but now i has wish that make any thing on marble by paint. You should have to paint one side let it dry then paint the other side. If you use acrylic paint it'll scrape off easily..
