Any articles that give tips on painting flames the right way. Im currently working on a balrog but i dont want to paint the flames backwards.

The problem is, most people paint dark to light, but flame is actually light to dark. Thus, start with white and then add yellow, then orange and a bit of red... Real fire is not that red, but it has to do with the temperature..

hey that looks fantastic! I can\'t think of how many times I\'ve seen them done backwards.

A little side note, did anyone see that light-up balrog which they featured in white dwarf? Amazing stuff that.

To continue on the side note:
If you mean the one in a shadow box which won at some gamesday; it sure looked great!

There is a write-up about its construction here:

That\'s not the one that was in WD, but it really rocks. I liked the idea of putting it in a shadow box

wow, re-casting parts in clear resin
unbelievable

I\'d like to second that.

But what I think is most remarkeble is this one winning a golden demon, instead of GW\'s IP department sueing him, for theft :) [I\'m sure that had they known it was essentially a recast, we would have never gotten to see photos of this wonderfull piece]

Now back on topic: the flames on that balrog look great so far! Really bright. Keep it up!

I think it is. It\'s the same box and everything which they showed in the golden daemon report, and in the later article describing how he made it, they say it\'s how he went about making his goldne daemon award winning mini.

I agree Dimiotrix, that would be so cool if GW produced a clear resin version...

Still, what tops the balrog is that army they just showed in white dwarf, where every thousand sons marine has a replaceable LED in him, so that the all have gowing eyes- now that\'s dedication!
