Painting at Work

Hi,

So, who gets to do some painting at work? Only jobs where you are not paid to paint count!

My friend Wicksy paints at lunchtimes. I would count lunchtimes as "work". Not everybody's workplace is condusive to painting even at lunchtimes, but his is apparently. Mine's not. I don't think. But I admit it's only a matter of feeling a bit exposed/nerdy that stops me. Technically, I could bring in some paints and a mini or two and do some painting at my desk - I just don't think the vibe is right, it's an open plan office.

Do YOU sneak in some painting during work hours?

(This thread could turn into a good list of jobs to go after for those wishing they had more painting time. =))

I generally try to get commission work done on lunch breaks. That way I can save my time in the "true" workshop for my own junk. It's worked out well so far though I do get a few gawkers every now and then.

Nope, don't paint at work and probably couldn't get away with it, either. Do envy those that are able to, though.

Never been in a job where it's viable really. Except maybe working for the MoD... Civil servants are like the L85 A1. Doesn't work and can't be fired...

i did once, when on call. i tend to sculpt if anything as it doesn't look good for the patients if you have paint on your hands

until I started painting full time I didn't have a job where I could do that. That would have been a fireable offense at any job I had. Even when I was sitting with nothing to do, staring at my cubicle wall, not allowed on the interwebs and waiting for my phone to ring if I even tried to fill a gap on a mini I would get interrogated like nobodies business.

@scottjames: I just toss the insert from the GW "fast attack" project bag into the front of my laptop case. I can generally fit the paints I need along with a couple brushes and something to wash them out in as well as minis in the top rack. I work as an info analyst at an insurance company in the states. They have a nice big corporate cafeteria where I can squeeze myself into a wall booth and have some decent privacy. The downside is they all are right under some kind of vent which means my paints dry in double-time.
