I am currently a military contractor & am being sent to Okinawa Japan. :D
I am wondering if there are any painters in the area???
I have learned that it is much better to paint mini\'s around other ppl, you can learn alot from other ppl.

if you are in the area of Futenma or on the island or someone on the island give me a shout.

thanks & Cheers:beer::beer:

Okinawa? :] the place is incredible, of course you\'ll work like crazy but you\'ll have a good time!
Sorry if you only came back to your thread here because of my posting: I don\'t know anyone in the painting hobby overthere, but I ***know*** that there is a lot happening in all types of mini painting.
Your best bet would be to get in toucfh with warhammer folks either in the japanese forums or email a shop - I seem ,to remember shop people are required to speak fluent english (fluent as in \"fluent\", not as \"fluent\" as described by Japanese schools). They\'ll know some good painters, gaming clubs, and you can hop from one contact to the other until you find your soul brothers.
I envy you! You are going to live an extraordinary experience!
I cut short this pmosting or I\'ll start asking you to mail me some kabuki dvds :p:p:p
cheers

If I remember correctly, the user Arma is in Osaka, japan. I\'m not sure how far that is from where you\'ll be but I thought I\'d just throw it out there.

Kabuki is a style of Japanese opera. All the roles are played by men, and they have very, very extreme expressions, almost to the point of looking like stylized Greek theater masks. I imagine kabuki DVDs would be videos of said opera.

For further reference, please rent Sgt. Kabuki-man, NYPD. Fine, fine movie.

Arma\'s the only one whom I know is in Japan, although Osaka\'s a bit of a trip. I only remembered his avatar, but looked up MathewBaich\'s suggested name, and that\'s who it was.

As for anybody else in Japan, I\'d offer up my single sister-in-law, but she\'s in Tokyo so probably a little far away from where you\'ll be. And I\'m serious BTW. Only down side is that she doesn\'t paint minis, and don\'t know if she\'d be into it. Although... from what I know she knows of me, you\'d probably be safe.

Sgt Kabukiman is a fun movie indeed - but it\'s not what I\'d advise to see what Kabuki is about! :-D The movie is as accurate as StarTrek is a true picture of our future:twisted:lol

If you want to see real kabuki go to a good theatre and have a Japanese friend tell you about it before hand. Once you get a few symbols that are not obvious for westerners you\'ll have a ggrrrrreat time! Kabuki is the true ancestor of anime!!!!!
