paint removal

ok, i felt i had to share this tip.

instead of using different solutions to remove paint from models (taking lots of time, not removing all paint, not for plastics etc etc) me and my co-workers found out what happens when you take an ultrasonic bath and put a painted model in it for 15 minutes.

it gets very clean.
we only used models painted with GW colours. the ones primed black were totally clean and the ones primed whit just went back to the white basecoat.

now i know that a piece of equipment like this isnt very cheap or all that common in a normal household, although i know of several guys who carry glasses who use them to clean the lenses.

it can be used on (this is what we tried) plastics, metal and green stuff without any drawbacks.

<thanks the gods this isn\'t another thread asking how to strip paint>

Wow, I\'m surprised this works so well! Not that we can all rush and use this method but it\'s good to know.

Cool we have a small one of these at work. What sort of solution did you use in it. Ours is filled with Isopropal.

Must give it a try I just have to remeber to take the things out before the boss sees them.

we used a antibiotic solution on the first couple of minis, but a strong saline solution really gets you a pretty good effect and is a lot cheaper and easier to use.
if you use a really strong solution make sure not to keep the models in for too long as they might get damaged by it

It makes sence that this would work, but Im supprised saline would remove the paint. Im curious how strong of an ultrasonic you have. I have a little one thats ment for cleaning jewlrey that I use for cleaning my airbrush parts out in Might have to give it a try.

i have a medical grade thingy to play with, we use it to remove flesh, blood and paint from our tools at the studio (no worries we used an old machine and carefully disinfected it before use)
