Paint Procrastination

Last weekend, I had a lot of time inside (due to illness)....no painting

This week, (MTW) lots of time off...no painting

Why? I thinkl because one of the minis in my \"to do\" pile will be my first NMM attempt.

Does this happen to anyone else?

BTW the mini in question is an old GW wizard re-released in plastic. It\'s the burly druid looking one with the curved scikle in one hand.

I often have periods when I don\'t paint for days on end for all sorts of reasons. But the main one is that I just cannot inspire myself to pick up my brush and knuckle down and do it.

This happens to me as well, I will go several day\'s to a week if I do not know what to do with the mini or mini\'s that I am painting at the time. Work, fiance, TV, sleep also seem to play a roll in not sitting down to paint for a few day\'s. I also have the problem of siting down to paint and then stopping after few miniutes.

From one extreme to the other

It happens all the time. I have periods of not picking up a brush for weeks to crazy days of eight or more hour stints.

Motivation is the problem. I\'m fine once I get going but it\'s really hard to motivate myself to get motivated :D

And sometimes there is the fear!
What i mean is when a model is progressing very well and you\'re going to do a couple more things to it, but you don\'t want to f**k up all the good work you\'ve already done.

Right now i have a mini on my desk i wan to get finished and that i\'m pretty pleased with so far, but i\'m tired and don\'t want to risk mistakes because of tiredness [it also includes a first attempt at NMM.]

The only time I don\'t paint is when I run out of models.... lol

Which happens often due to the prices GW demands and my love of painting.

sometimes I go and sit in front of my painting desk, I look at the miniatures in progress and turn away to do something else, simply because I don\'t feel like painting :)

Unfortunately I\'m stuck not painting right now, I sit down at the painting table and just don\'t get started on anything, my attention turns to the TV or computer or something else. The problem is I\'m so deep into a large project I just want to get it done, but at the same time a little burnt out working on it. I have a good feeling about this weekend though!

I haven\'t painted much for the past 18 months. During most of that time I was too ill to pick up a brush. I\'m better now but I\'m having a hard time getting back into it. Seems like the longer I go without painting something, the less inspired I am to paint anything.
:(

Me, I start on one mini ... the idea of having several miniatures in \'stages\' would just drive me up the wall. Its one or none for me.

And yeah, starting up a new technique on a figure that you like, and NOT wanting to get six or so hours into it and then saying \'bugger it all\' and stripping it is a bit of a fear sometimes.

Grrr.

Fortunatelly I used those plastic wizards...and a lot of those little plastic kits to try techniques that I\'m not sure about. I don\'t care much about the minis, it was just a good deal and I should have something to practice on. Two of the wizards got caked in primer....who cares? I used them to try a new technique and see if I could make them look etherial and ghostly. It didn\'t work, and if I posted them they\'d probably get a 1.

anyway, new techniques deserve crappy practice minis.

staying power...

I have the same problem....I have plenty of other things to do on my time off, but invariably I regret when the day is over and I never got a chance to paint.

Another problem I have is painting a miniature to almost completion, then losing interest in it and starting some other project for a while. I have got at least 10 miniatures that only need a bit of work for me to call them \'finished\'...
