Paint and the multi-part mini?

Hi,

I\'m working on a skorne titan and have run across something that I\'m sure others have figured out in the past. Just looking for some ideas on how to handle this problem...

The mini has many parts (big hand gauntlets) that will make areas of the body difficult to paint. However, if I leave them off and paint them seperately there will be gaps where all the joints meet...

How am I supposed to fill the gaps once everything is nicely painted??

I haven\'t painted many figs of this size so it\'s never been an issue before.

Thanks for your help.

It depends a lot of the joints on this model are fairly tight fitting so there shouldn\'t be much of a problem..

Best thing is to clean up the parts and dryfit as well as possible making sure there is the minimum of gaps..

When you attach the pieces go easy on the superglue and pin for stength.

If there are gaps you can still fill with Green stuff and paint over it just try and keep this to a minimum by cleaning up the parts to fit as close as possible to start with.

Trust me the extra hassle that you get when pinning the sepeately painted parts on will be nothing compared to try and paint fully assembled.

one note Superglue gives off fumes that can leave a white film over your already painted parts.
I find this generally cleans off with just a damp brush.....

good luck

If you glue after (and if you have to fill gaps) get a bottle of \"stained glass medium.\"
It\'s a clear acrylic that works as an excelent primer. The big advantage is you primer the join and if you get a bit on the part you already painted that\'s okay because it\'s clear (invisible).

For me it depends on how the mini look - but i always assemble it fully then break away the hard to paint pieces like backpacks or if the arms are close to the body holding a weapon or something.

I have noticed that usually the broken away pices fit really well when you reassemble the mini as the gaps already have been filled in advance. The only thing to watchout for is paint in the joint whick makes it weaker and may destroy the fit. With a fit like this it only takes a layer of paint and nobody will ever know...

I use superglue so the joint is weaker but then again i don\'t throw my minis around so much.
