OT: Fallout 3 Import Save Games ?

I uninstalled Fallout 3 ( PC )and saved the folder with saved games.
I moved the folder and reinstalled the game again.
Question is how do I import the saved games and characters. Do I copy the content of the 1st folder and paste it in the new folder or remove the new folder and replace it with the original folder. Sorry, never did this before. I tried the second option of replacing the folder but the game froze and wouldn't start.
Got the add ons but I don't feel like playing another character for 100 hours to play the add ons.

It should work if you just drag your save file and drop it into the new save game folder. Make sure the new game is the right patch if Fallout 3 uses patches.

i would make a copy of what your replacing so you have a back and dont have to reinstall.
reinstalling back in the day was so much easier when games weren't 15 gb. you might be able to just pick out the save files and paste those by themselves.

I've done this many times myself, it's just to drop your save files into the proper folder and it all works. If you're missing patches and/or tesc-files the save game will tell you when you try to reload and give you the option to either continue gaming without and thus erasing all traces of the addons in the save file or abort the load.

Last night I installed the add ons. God that was slow.
I started at 10:00pm and figured at worst 45 min to 1 hour.
I gave up at 1:15am and went to bed when the installation bar was at only 50%:at-wits-end:
I woke up at 3:30 and it was finally done.
