Orcy warlord

I have just started work on an AoW orc warlord figure to try and push myself to paint effects that I do not usually use (lots of skin tones, fur and grime). I was happy enough with the skin as I started out, but the fur is turning into a nightmare! I can't seem to find a happy balance between keeping contrast to make the individual tufts stand clear, and having an overall shading across the cloak. Does anyone have any advice? Thinking this one will be needing a fresh start on the fur.

What immediately springs to mind on the fur is that the highlights should be smaller. Your highest color should be a spot or very small line on the end of the tuft. From what I can tell, the skin is looking good. The veins might be a bit too blue though. Good progress so far!

Good work on the skin and his face and teeth.
Concerning the fur, I agree with HoboClown: It appears to be a bit too bright (as long as it is not ment to be the fur of an ice bear ;)). A dark grey wash might sort that.
Apart from this it doesn't look too bad - keep it up :)

Had another go at the inner cloak today, trying to keep things more subdued. I feel like I have lost a lot of definition though. But then perhaps once the armour and such is filled in having a subdued backdrop will work for that?
