I'm not sure I remember my first character, I think it was a knight named Rohan Lejonhjärta (Lionheart) that character was for a game made by a see of the Swedish church and was called Vägen (The road)

My favourite character is more of a concept than a character, I've used the same personality and name for several games for close to ten years now, He's a ranger type of guy who prefers the bow and single knife in battle, he's a bit cocky but in a laid back kind of way. There are quite a few things that have happened to this guy and I always make sure to bring his 'new features' into the next game I use him in. This guy is starting to get quite scarred now. XD
Oh! Right, his name? Quintarrando El'Aedande
Yeah, it's an elf.

Next you'll be telling us he enjoys using a shield to ride down castle stairs and into battle :D

Milo Wyrmslayer with his warhorse Blinky. The earliest character I played who's name I still remember! I was about 13 years old. He was a D&D Basic Fighter & ended up with a cart hitched up to the horse to ferry about his vast collection of Normal Swords +1 :D I think he survived through the red & blue box rules then began the green, before we stopped the campaign to move into the brand new AD&D 2nd Edition. It was so exciting to be able to play a Fighter who wasn't human or a Dwarf who could cast spells!

Favourites? Can't remember his name but I had a WHFRP cleric who lost an arm to a giant octopus but that didn't stop him swinging the Fiery Flail Of Tarashal about with impunity :) More recently, my last ever AD&D 2nd Ed character was, I think, called Bartholomew The Mage. A skinny brainbox Wizard constantly at odds with the party for his assumption that raise dead to bring on some Skeleton baggage carriers was perfectly acceptable (The Paladin disagreed but of course he would, he's strong enough to carry his own kit about), he ended up saving the world with a flukey high dice Fireball result, unfortunately he was incinerated by the backblast. The party paid for him to be resurrected but he was a walking scar with much reduced stats. Great fun but 2 years to drag a party up to 8th level has made us appreciate the tweaks to advancement in 3rd Ed. all the more :) Cheers, B.

And he has a wet squirrel! Mustn't forget the squirrel!

Personally, the first....gods, I can't remember any more, it's been more than 25 years!
The favorite? Hard to say, really. I usually play odd-ball characters, so there are a few to choose from. Could be the Troll PhysAd from ShadowRun. Imagine 8 feet of muscle, capable of kicking through a steel door. Name? Clarris. You don't need a cool handle if you can do that. I usually play odd-ball characters like that. That was the same campaign where one of the other characters ran full-tilt boogie straight into a brick wall. Fun memories. :)

Oh, and Chrome? Not that it really matters much, but the term is more likely 'Diocese'. Though it WOULD be kinda cool to participate in a rpg-session run by the Holy See. :)

First character - Fighter type named Garth. 18/00 Str, 17 Dex, 18 Con. And a 4 Int, 5 Wis, and 4 Chr. Standard combat brick, One each.

Most fun to play - 3 foot 8 inch tall Dwarf engineer named Phred Ledballoon - the DM made us take skills, and his were running, grappling, and jumping. Ran the main baddy through town and really screwed with the GM's plan.

evil tendencies

Cake or Death?
Sgt. Baran - a Half-Orc brawler on "indefinite leave" from the Greyhawk city watch. He was a lot of fun because he only fought unarmed, but refused to take monk levels. I wanted to annoy the "optimizers' in our group, but it was fun to explain in character that he didn't "have time to learn all that chop-sockey stuff, even though it looks pretty cool." d3's FTW!

My first character? Half-orc barbarian who, in my first game ever, spent the session tossing halflings and punted a kobold into an evil-sorcerer type.

My favorite? Gnome Bard/cleric/rogue who spent the majority of the time tripping the enemy and singing all the while. When the enemy got back up, I'd hit them, and trip them again.
Unfortunately my memory of it is somewhat sullied due to an incident with a telescope that would extend when you say "yarrr" in a pocket and being on a pirate ship for four sessions avoiding the crew. (Damn lonely, homosexual pirates)

My favourite character was an exceptionally ugly goblin wizard called Wotha (short for what the hell is that thing?!) that had some home managed to acquire a large calibre hand gun, but couldn't hit the broad side of a barn if he was inside it.
Wearing his oversized large read hat he was a member of the G.I.B, (Goblin Intelligence Bureau) admittedly only a member because it was marginally safer (for the other goblins) to make him a field agent and therefore get him out of the training school.

With a fondness for explosives and an affinity making things go boom, it's a miracle he ever made it to the second session, we were playing rolemaster at the time and the DM "accidentally" started us at level zero while pitting us against level one foes.

Good times, good times.

Stealth Freak
I've actually never played any RPG, other than online. One of the first was a female fairy named Yuka, on some MUD way back when. It started out as a bet from a roommate that the people in the game would treat you better if they thought you were a girl. So we both created characters at the same time and entered the game. Within five minutes, I'd had four or five offers of help. He'd gotten none. Then it became a game to see how long I could get the boys to help this "poor wittle girl". Man, did I get some nice equipment. :agent:

well, ive never played as a player, but being a DM for ~6 years for the same group i have certainly created a NPC's that are/were favorites of mine.
my first villain was (and still is) great:

Hizor is a yuan-ti gifted lizarman psionic warrior, who specialized espionage and assassination for "the order." his hit and run tactics, combined with superhuman athleticism and stealth make him a fierce (and frustrating) foe indeed. early on in the campaign he murdered one of the PCs when their guard was down, and ever since they have both hated, and feared him.

my personal favorite:
derik korbis: the only thing this devil-may-care citystate external security agent loves more than women is brutal violence. he is well known for his habit of wading in to combat with no shirt and a fine cigar, and seems to take great pleasure in such daring acts. this ranger, sporting quick hands, a magical repeating heavy crossbow, and a bad attitude is a favorite ally of the PCs, both for his snake-pliskin-meets-james-bond like demeanor, and his ability to lay down a preposterous amounts of suppressive fire (he has, on more that one occasion, sunken an enemy boat with adamantine bolts).

you guys have some classic moments - saving the day and killing yourself all in one shot, PC vs. PC ... nice.

Mine might not count. I played "Captain America". He used a shield and combined with his battle experience and super soldier serum I led a team of super heroes called "The Avengers".

Marvel Super Heroes was such a BAD system, but we had fun anyway.

RoleMaster OWNS! Or, well, it did, been a long while since I played. And the reason it owned was due to all the stupid things that could happen. Disembowled by a wild cat, while wearing chain mail, anyone? Or the lovely comment 'You crush his skull, making life difficult for the poor bastard'. And of course the 'hook the bow string behind your ear, removing it'.
