Okay here goes with my random minis log. It will mostly be Lord Of The Rings models here but with all sorts of other models thrown in as and when i paint them. Any comments positive or negative are welcome. All my models have been primed with chaos black.

First off some Games Workshop Army of the dead that are nearly finished:

And then some Elven cavalry. These have been painted with the light grey foundation paint and then drybrushed skull white. The riders have just had a coat of merchanite red on their cloaks to match the footsloggers in my army:

Since I`ve read your great articel about shading / blending I am very curious to see, what you`re getting out of these mini`s. Especially the balrog`s wings! What`s your plan about the wings?

I have not written any article on shading and blending. Its one thing id love to improve on.

As for the wings it is a secret for now, all will be revealed in time.

good start with these but you need to thin your paints out alot more and not overload the brush. On your undead guy the green has run over the details and armour. I think you need to slow down as you paint and be a little neater. Good luck with your painting if you listern to what people advice you and practice I am sure you will improve rapidly.

I always delute my paints with at least 1:1 water.

Okay i have finaly got my Balrog model back from a GW shop where it was on display for a while and ive taken a couple of photos. The wings where entirely done with an airbrush and most of the body was to. In the films the balrog is just a ball of fire with smoke for wings and thats what i was trying to represent.
