OLDCell's WIP Thread

Hey guys,

I've got a few things on the go at the same time, and I'm relatively new and old to model painting. I started a few weeks back after not picking up a brush since I was 13 so 17 years ago. Yes, I know it makes me 30yrs old and according to my partner a proper geek.
Anyway I'm really getting back into model painting, I don't game even when I was a kid I only ever painted.

So below is a list of things I'm working on and a pic of what I'm working on right now.

Games Workshop:
Assault on Black Reach - Not really done much on these, just cleaning up and getting ready to put in the to paint pile.
Ork Trukk - You can see in one of my pics it's very much a WIP and I'm not quite done with building. I'm always thinking about little conversion bits I could do and I never get round to doing them so it just moves
from place to place when it's in the way of other projects.

Malifaux:
Colette Du Bois 28mm - Kind of done, needs some work to clean up a few bad paint areas and a nice mess on her foot, I was doing her for another forum comp but I don't think she will be done for tomorrow as I've been busy.
Mad Hatter 28mm - Cleaned, glued and pinned ready for primer and paint.
Desperate Mercenary 28mm - Still in box.

SMOG:
Cornelius Fauchelevent 52mm - Still in box and a great looking model. I'm thinking about getting quite a few more SMOG minis to paint.

Mauser Earth:
Hauptsturmführer Konrad von Kardsten 54mm 1/35 - Still in box, needs cleaning and glueing and priming. Great looking model and one I'm really looking forward to painting, but parts are a bit annoying by the looks of it to clean and glue.

Mantic:
Ork Warlord - Still in box, but looks like a great model to paint so it might make it to front of list.
Marauder Raptor x2 - One pretty much completed and in background of one of shots. Still thinking of some more touchups and weathering. The other still in box.

Reaper Master Series: CURRENT PROJECT
Ellen Stone Cowgirl (Nude) 54mm - In the close up image she may look grainy but that's mainly the poor image quality of the iPhone 4. See below pic for more info.

Looks grainy but what I have done is a black primer coat all over and let dry before using a white primer and spraying directly down onto the model and letting dry and then from a 45° angle across the mini.
I'm sure all of you are aware of zenithal highlighting. If not then what it does is create a natural shadow and highlight as if the light source was directly above the mini. It makes it easier to blend and highlight from light to dark as the top of
the mini is getting most the light. So under her breasts it's almost complete black primer.

A shot of my Hobbyzone Paint Station, great for being able to move around house when I get kicked out of where ever I'm painting. Also in the shot is the Ork Trukk and the Mantic Raptor, well one of them.

On hold this week, well at least until my new paints I ordered arrive. Managed to drop 2 pots of paint :D both flesh tones which I need, especially for Ellen.
So just waiting on a bundle of Vallejo, I think 24 paints in total lol. Drop 2 buy 24... think my maths is off.

So the plan this week is clean and glue some of the other models ready for priming, get those done and then I can concentrate on getting some paint to mini. So hope to have some progress to show soon.

Ellen's a fun mini. Have one in the pile myself. Hmm. Seems I have a lot of half naked minis in that pile. Looks like a scene from Caligula. Without the dudes.

Space Wolf Captain - Scibor Celtic Warrior #2

I'm semi happy with the mini, I like the back of the mini the most and feel the pelt and cape came out quite nice. Still got to practice lots n lots to learn and improve my painting level.
I hate the eye's pretty much a blob and then a dot from a micro pen... May have to redo the face.
Still got plenty to touch up and do more detail on such as the axe.

Thanks, yeah the Scibor do have a lot od detail which is why I really like the look of them. Going to order a couple more of the other SF varients they do. Love the bases that they come with also.

Just had confirmation that a model I purchased has been posted, a similar style to that of the Scibor Celtic Warrior although this time from HiTech Miniatures.
I have purchased the 54mm Bjoorn Northfist and from the looks and info I have found he is massive, 60mm to the eyes from bottom of feet.

Very much looking forward to painting him, but first I will try and get Ellen finished this week and some pics uploaded. Also just going to do some quick painting of generic Space Marines from AOBR.
