Nobody's answering rules questions

Nobody official's answering rules questions here, we've had silence from CMON on this game for a while, Michael and Fabio haven't communicated in 6 months. I emailed CMON asking them who was answering rules questions and got silence.

Can we call it abandonware yet?

You literally post asinine questions with common sense answers, seemingly trying to nickpick specific wording in rules, constantly and then argue when people post answers you don't like.

And make posts like this.

People are here answering questions and citing their sources, just because you don't like the answers doesn't mean they're wrong or things have been "abandoned".

Rules exist to be nitpicked; in a few cases, they just don't work as written. I get it that you're very interested in the social hierarchy of designers=>community middlemen=>lumpen masses, with the last of which being denied the right of reading and interpreting the rules, in favor of nonsensical pronouncements from people like yourself, but I'd rather a game that plays out of the box without people having to go searching for unqualified pandits online. Or worse, being told in the middle of a game that the rules don't work the way the rulebook and FAQ say they do because some influential TO decided to the contrary.

The reason I used the analogy of "abandonware" is because of the lack of communication and the seeming abdication of community management to Asmodee, not any particular rules answer.

100% this. If CMON isn't going to address the rules issues with the game then the players need to know. Now I'll say this: that would be fine. The London GT folks put together a pretty extensive list of the questions that need to be answered, including the nit-picky ones, and I'm pretty sure the collection of TOs that put that list together are a majority of the most major/influential TOs the game has to offer at this time. If CMON isn't going to manage their own game I'm happy for there to be an ITC-style group out there that makes decisions that you can reliably travel with if that is your thing.

i would very much like that cmon would make you as an official game master or whatever they might call it to answer questions with compensation obviously

I'd prefer they choose someone with better customer facing skills. I've been part of communities where official rules answers were given over to a group of "expert community members" and them calling the rest of the community, or their questions or arguments, asinine actively harmed the community.

I understand where Hecaton is coming from though. I play this game with people who came from card games first and think about games (and triggers within games) in that context. This brings up a whole array of questions that seem "nit-picky" or "asinine" to people who play things "they way they're clearly supposed to work", but are actually pretty important to answer. And when those types of questions are referred to in these low-grade derogatory ways, it is fairly off-putting.

And given how poor a job Michael himself has done at providing answers with a foundation in the rules, or editing the various rule documents to reflect rulings, I don't know that it would be terribly easy to trust even the lead devs for the game. The biggest failing on this is Gilly, but several more I could pretty easily point out as well that seem to run counter to the rule book.

sry i forgot to put inverted commas and quoting for you to realise that i was quoting you.

In our gaming group we were fine with alliser rulings since 99% of the time they are followed by a reply from michael "alliser is correct"

sure even i like to nit pick rules infact i have an issue with quickfire as it was removed from faq and retreat wording was left the same last year but dissing everyone is equally rude and defo this game is not that competitive and it is not designed to be that competitive.

it was till the mammoth and dragons were released, then we spent a whole year and a half waiting for a fix to that disaster and we got the night s watch flames of war and uncontrollable mod only to wait for another year for another update.

michael has not logged in here for months as can be seen on his profile so yeah competitively game is over if you are looking for game devs answer. for us the next best thing is alliser. adapt or quit
