i am working on a skeleton that i want to try to give a NMM bronze sword. and need some help. having trouble getting my colors to look right. i am looking for any suggestions for doing NMM bronze.
I started out with a scorched brown basecoat and used a yellow and yellow white mix for the highlight. then worked out from the highlight with varying shades of browns.
unfortunately i cannot post a pic of the piece as it is a unreleased mini that i am working on.
Bronze is pretty flexible because it comes in so many varieties. One thing I've noticed in a couple of googled pictures is that the highlights on the metal look closer to a cream colour than anything. I would say an appealing bronze would be a progression of browns with only a light touch of yellow or orange in them.
Is this a GW Tomb King's skelly, or a different skelly?
it is a skeleton from Black Orc Games Mini-Sculpt line (due to be released in about 3 weeks). I found a tutorial that has helped, but still not 100% sure i like the results i got. I typically work with metallics but wanted to try something different with this piece due to the fact that there isnt any other details to this skelly other than the sword. Im thinking that once i get a bit of weathering on the sword it may turn out ok.
Mattsterbenz had a great thread where he showed off his recipes for NMM in a his plog. Vermin brown and white gives a nice coppery look, though bronze is a more golden colour when polished up. The coppery colour should get you a nice bronze effect.
