Hi Guys,

I am new to this hobby, i have been painting on and off for a year but have never played a game of 40k or fantasy before.

I was thinking about buying a Chaos Space marine battleforce to start an army. Is this a good start for a chaos commander? Or do you guys have any advice on which army i should play?

Thanks all!

Hi Wilks!

I enjoy both game systems. You can compare Fantasy to chess, and 40k to chekers.

Fantasy requires a lot more thinking in advance, estimating distances, setting up your opponents in traps, etc.

40k is simpler. It\'s much easier to get started with, since there is a lot fewer models.

Chaos Space Marines would be a great choice for starting. All of the battleforces are probably the best starting point for any army. Not only do you save a good chunk of money, but they tend to give you plenty of core choices. They are a great building block.

Pick an army that looks cool! That\'s all it really comes down to. Different armies have different play styles, of course. Space Marines and Chaos are both well rounded armies, which is why they are very popular for starting players.

Hope this helps! :)

Yep, good place to start for 40k is a box set and you can\'t really go to wrong with either Chaos Marines or regular Marines. Marines (or chaos) are good that you can have a nice close combat or longe range army depending on your style of play. Only army that is possibly easier to paint and play with are Necrons, but that wouldn\'t be my first choice for an army.
Chaos are possibly a little more forgiving with painting as they have additional detail to break up the smooth plates that typifies Space Marine armour.

Whatever you decide on, don\'t forget that the new edition of 40k is out in a few weeks. The updated version of battle for McCragge has some tasty Marine and Ork minis in it but that is a couple of months away yet.

Thanks guys :)

Im goign to buy the battleforce in the morning :)

I like the colour scheme of sickly green that the nurgle plague dudes have.. the whole corrupted metal and oozin stuff appeals to me

If i wanted to have a whole army painted in that colour i would presumably have to create my own chapter, is it ok fluff wise to have all my models painted in a nurgle scheme even if they are not all plague marines?

Im thinkin ill even do my khorne dudes in nurgle colours with a red splash on the shoulder pads to mark the fact they are khorne beserkers.

What you think? Do you have any tips on creating your own colour schemes?

Sorry for all the questions hah :]

wilks.

There are several Nurgle affiliated Chapters featured in the codex, The Purge and The Cleaved being two of them. At the end of the day it\'s your army, you can paint it however you want.

Good luck :D

Now this is what pisses me off. Why does it take Forge World to put out something that awesome? Why doesn\'t GW do that to begin with?
