Hi there!

I´m a disgruntled WHFB player that got his interest in miniatures wargames rekindled by Wrath of Kings. A friend showed me and I´ve got really impressed by the combination of competitive price, excellent miniatures, interesting designs and factions and what seems to be easy to learn, hard to master, tactically challenging and flavourful rules.

Some guys here in Brazil backed the kickstarter and are selling excess armies, so I got my hands on the Nasier starter, special characters and special leaders.

Just showing up here to greet the community and help with the hype and network effect :D .

Later on, I´ll probably post other stuff and ask questions about the game in general and Nasier in particular. Cheers!

Yea, I guess there will be ever more of us... It´s ironic that one of the major reasons I played (and still play) WHFB was the mass battle system and here I am, starting a skirmish game because GW totally botched their own attempt at skirmish rules...

Anyway, WoK has me again excited about miniature games and I can´t wait to get my hands on my Nasier boxes.

With what I´ve already bought, I can make the following battle list:

Alyana Senior Hakar Rank 2 Commander
Ashmen Hakar Rank 1
Pelegarth Howl Rank 1
Pelegarth Howl Rank 1

12 Ashmen Swords Rank 1
12 Pelegarth Bloodmasks Rank 1

1 Arkazan Longhorn Rank 1
1 Rathorn Shaman Rank 1
Shadrus Arikim Rank 2

Galderath Bloodchild Rank 2
The Blind Hakar Rank 2

It´s very character heavy, which isn´t normally something I´m used to do, but it doesn´t feel wrong at all.
My current general "plan" to use them is to have a central line of Bloodmasks with the 2 howls, a strong flank wing with Heska and 8 Swordmen and a weaker flank with a Hakar and 4 Swords.

The shaman would stay with the weak flank, Longhorn between weak flank and center, Shadrus and the Blind Hakar behind the shieldwall and the Bloodchild accompanying the strong flank.

The reasoning is for the center to hold and than open space through knockbacks for the Blind Hakar to get into juicy duels with the stronger enemy assets. The weaker flank harasses the enemy with magic and just stays as a fast threat to protect the center line, while the fast and strong elements of Heska, Bloodchild and Ashmen envelop the enemy on their side.

Of course it all depends on terrain, objectives and opponents, but that is the general disposition "A".

Comments? Also, what are Nasier players preferences for their motivations?

Cheers!

Welcome! And a good choice, I must say.

As for motivations, you should vary them, and figure out what works best against which opponents. Tournament play will require you to play different ones (also, you'll get practice in playing different ways). I personally default to Call to Glory, but you have to see what you are facing. Against slow and/or few opponents, like Hadross, Escort Civilians might be a good choice.

Welcome to the game! I play every motivation myself, but only use some when I want to give my opponent an easier time of things. STand your Ground or whatever its called is a PITA to do since you need to start your activation engaged, which makes it a 2 round motivastion that your opponent can play around.

My go to's are Call to Glory, Burn it Down, Unstoppable Advance, and Escort Prisoner.

Your list is fine, if you like all those character, play them! I tend to run more infantry heavy lists because A: if gives me more morale, so I can suffer more loses without losing, and B: it makes the characters feel special when I use them.

Bloodchild is amazing
Greathorn is a bruiser
Shadrus is OK, but your opponents will just ignore him and let him toss 2-3 dice at stuff
Blind Hakar is mean and I don't use her for friendly play. The ability to 1 shot anything on a hit (not wound, hit) is just not fun for my opponent, and I like to play games we are both enjoying. CAse in point, my last game with her, she killed a Scourge Hound Round 2, a Shield Breaker round 3, The Headhunter round 4, and an Alpha in the last round. My opponent wanted me to play hardball, but even they weren't prepared for that...

Thanks for the comments guys.

Oistene, yes, choosing the appropriate motivations in each game, according to the opponent and table is of course a big part of tactical gameplay, which I hope to get strong at after a while playing. But as a default choice, Call to Glory and Escort Civilians were my first thoughts too, particularly with this character heavy built.

Mezegis, well, the choice of this list is actually mostly motivated by the miniatures I´ve managed to acquire in a local deal. I´d normally not go for such character heavy lists myself and agree with your third line. Later on I´ll probably change it, as I get new stuff.

Thanks for the breakdown on the characters. The blind Hakar´s ability seems very strong indeed. However, she´s also relatively fragile and has to be in 1 on 1 to get their instant kills, so I think that there are enough counters to her so that my opponents hopefully don´t see her as gamebreakingly overpowered. As it is, I simply can´t build a valid Battle list without her. My opponents will probably have their own dosis of strong characters, given that a big part of the initial community is building their armies based on the kickstarter deal with the characters and leaders.

Cheers!

Run her with the Pelegarth or some Longhorns as they can force away your opponents stuff, allowing her to get the 1v1's she wants. If that's all you have, obviously run with it. I prefer Elsis as my battle leader though. Not as offensive, but when you give the whole army evasion, it can make some already brutal models darn near impossible to kill.

In the end, I´ll try out lists with the other leader characters too. This first is going to have Heska though. Really liked her fluff in the novel and Ashmen Swordmen were the first thing that attracted me to Nasier. Also, having sundering +1 allround seems really good too. I´m more of an agressive player (also something that attracted me to Nasier) and adept of the phylosophy that the best defense is attack. :)
