Nice ...

well painted...clean and crisp. Especially liked the eyes. Gave it a 7 (it\'ll get a 7.5 if there\'s such a range).

I\'ll give it an eight....

I really like the \'greens\'. The color has a neat continuity throughout the mini.

I will give it an 8! (i would say 7.5 also)

Yes, more contrasting and varied colors would have given it an 8 in my books, but it looks like a 7. I see this happen all the time to people: they fall into the trap of muted color schemes! I guess they think too many colors would confuse people, but too little makes it look a bit... well, weird. The three colors most widely used here are green, yellow (Gold), and black with some burgandy red. If the red was brighter, I think it would make a big difference!

Hope you don\'t take my critcism as bashing your mini, I just thought you\'d want something else than numbers! :D

Very nice...

Now I am going to disagree with my esteemed colleague here, because I really appreciate minis which make use of a limited palette. It\'s no real secret that Sivousplay is one of my favourite artists on this site and IMO he is a master of the limited palette technique. On the other hand he gets blasted on occasions and not everyone likes this style. \'Horses for courses\'.
The only thing I would comment on as a point of improvement is: the sword looks very bright compared to the gun. The figure has a strong diagonal theme, gun -sword. The bright sword brings the viewers eyes down to the bottom right. To improve balance, either the gun could do with being a bit more \'dynamic\' or the sword might benefit from being muted slightly. Just my 2c.
:bouncy:

ps I gave it a 7, but I am going to go back and give it an 8, giving an average of 7.5. We seem to have a spooky kind of consensus going on here:wow:

Gave it a 7. It is indeed clean work. I like the color choices, except for the sword which to me looks a bit out of place. Her face and her hands look a bit flat (though the makeup is good).

no i certainly dont take it is as mini bashing, i want to improve as a painter so all criticism is most welcome, and youve definately giving me something to think about.

i definately see your point there , because its a power sword i wanted to try and give it a light sabre kinda of feel. but it does certainly draw the eye away from the rest of the mini, i think thats a good idea about brightening the gun for balance, something ill bear in mind in the future.

Her face and her hands look a bit flat

yeah i was thinking that nyself, have to use a bit more dark lining next time

thanks again everyone

I gave it a 7.
I like the colors and the technique but one thing just strikes me as \"off\".
It\'s those eyebrows!
The black lining above them make them look like one long eyebrow..
The paint job is great, but the \"mono-brow\" is a detraction for me... sorry.

:)

Mono brow...

It could be my crap monitor, as it\'s on a par with my crap software, but I really don\'t see the \'monobrow\' thing at all. There is black lining under the peak of her cap and then, there is her eyebrows, which to me look separate.:flip:

I see it, Finn, it\'s the sculpt and not the painting, I belive. Fitzpatrick likes long, skiny eyebrows on all his minis, it seems. But then, compared to the Night Elves in Warcraft III, they\'re tame! :p
