Hey guys, i\'m from New Zealand, but have been away for about 6 weeks. During this, i\'ve had times of great boredem in which I did a lot of websearching and came across this site.

I love it!

From painting and conversion tips, to the work in progress thread, i\'ve had all kinds of things to keep me occupied.

6 or 7 years ago I started playing Warhammer fantasy and 40k, and spent a lot of time painting and converting. About 2 years ago my life was turned upside down for a number of reasons and after moving house for the third time my miniatures have stayed in their box since.

Before I went away I had been thinking a little bit about finding them and getting them out again, I even found a Gaming Society in my area. But after finding this site, i\'m definately getting them out again. I\'ll be back in about a week or so, and can\'t wait to start posting my conversions and paint jobs (I remember them being awesome, but something tells me thats the glaze of history, and they need a lot more work).

I\'ve got just a few questions, two in fact:

1. Whats this \'trade a mini\' thing i\'ve heard about? (edit: Turns out I was thinking of the Mini Exchange, thanks people)

2. How many New Zealanders (and Australians) do we have here? It\'d be good to hear from a few of you.

Thanks all for this great site, I look forward to having my mini\'s voted on :)

Welcome korban!

I\'m not sure what you mean by \"trade a mini\" - are you talking about the miniature exchange?

The only aussies that I can think of off the top of my head are Orb and Trevor - although I know there are more out there! :D

Can\'t wait to see your stuff!

Miniature Exchange

Yeah, that\'s the one, could you enlighten me please? It sounds interesting.

Basically, someone announces their \"hosting\"??? a mini exchange (via a thread in the General Discussion forum) and you let them know you\'d like to participate and where you can/can\'t send to (send only to UK/USA, or anywhere, etc.).

They put together a list and the first person sends any random minis to the next person on the list, and so on, and so on. You do try to look at the person\'s (that you\'re sending to) gallery and see what they like, but it can be pretty much anything. Some people send one mini - some send 3-5. Basically, it\'s stuff you\'ve got hanging around that you just don\'t/can\'t...want to paint.

I got an AWESOME forest dragon from Marineboy (Thanks again, Jerome!) that I have yet to even look at (totally intimidated by it!)

Anyway, it\'s a great thing. You\'re supposed to paint it and then post it to the thread, but some people don\'t (like me)!

Hope this helps!

Also, there\'s the round robin stuff. The past ones haven\'t finished yet, but there\'s one for the states and one for Europe/Australia, etc. One person coordinates the list, another person donates the mini and sends it to the first person on the list. That person paints a part of the mini and then sends it to the next person on the list. They paint a part of it and send it to the next person on the list - and so on, and so on...

Eventually, it\'s finished and goes back to the person who donated the mini in the first place (I\'m pretty sure!). My husband, Grumb, just got an Ettin from darthfoley, is going to work on it, and then send it to the next person and eventually it\'ll go back to whomever donated it. I think this mini is in the Discuss Submissions forum (but it could be the painting forum too. I\'m not a good enough painter to participate so I don\'t keep up with it).

Glad you\'re here!

P.S. Don\'t worry about your scores here - just paint for the fun of it! :flip:

Welcome, Korban. You can read about the last and the present mini exchange under \"News\". The thread was moved there from general discussions. People are now signing up for the new exchange so hop on over and see if this is something you are interested in.

Awesome, that looks like a lot of fun, i\'m glad it\'s been extended to the 12th as I don\'t get my feet back on terra firma till the 7th.

One problem though, I haven\'t been a member of this forum for more than a month.. :(

Welcome to CMON, korban!

Just wondering, but where are you now? I see references in your previous posts about \"getting back on terra firma\" and getting home again. ??? Are you on a boat?.. a submarine?... a spaceship??

Well, I hope you make it home form your mystery travels safely and post your minis soon!
