as the topic says, I need a little bit "expert advice" on painting the rest of my hellbrute who is currently only painted in a red orange hue, His armor that is.
I'm not really sure what colour to use for the skin and I'd really appreciate it if anyone out there could help me come up with a second colour that would look good
along with the red/orange. (The colours I've used are Mephiston red, Evil sunz scarlet, Blazing orange and a little bit of P3 cygnar yellow and some Bloodletter glaze).
The red looks a little "screamy" with the orange which is what I wanted to achieve.. just don't know how to harmonize the mini
I am also going to attempt to paint OSL coming from the little guy in the middle and I think I'll make it light blue.

Pics would helps here but there are some general points for this sort of thing that are broadly applicable. Most of the time people go with harmonious colours (an analogous colour scheme) for these I think, which is simply a matter of using colours reasonably close together, e.g. deep yellow, orange, scarlet, red. Even within a narrow range of hues like this you can get colours that clash, it's just a case of finding or mixing the right sort of red/blue/whatever that'll go along with the colours you already have featured.

For orange-red, any hue of red can actually work okay, what might make one a bad match is if it's too light in hue (a bit pinkish, has some white in it) or if it's a little too far towards magenta, and particularly if it's both. If you have a red that looks like it's close but somehow doesn't quite look right simply darkening it - add black - might be enough for it to work great, also dulling it down - add grey - will always help.

You don't of course have to go with an analogous scheme, you could ditch that entirely and go for something else; even a complementary scheme*, which has the most potential for colours that screamingly clash, could work well as long as it's not too vivid.

*In this case that would mean turquoise or teal for the skin.

Thanks alot for your reply and your explanation, I will note what you said in my paintbook!
especially the dulling down with grey, which I didn't know about. I'll hit the skin with a dull red, since I am also going to use light blue for the OSL
I'm pretty sure it will be a Clash of the Colours otherwise :)

I would take a shot and upload it but for some mysterious reason my android seem to hate the colour red and it turns out orange.. so you wont see the real hue.
