Need help with Vallejo Combos

Hey all I just decided to get back into painting. I used to paint strictly with Games Workshop paint. This time around I decided to do some reading on what paint to use so I went with Vallejo Model Paints. My problem is the combination of paints I used for layering and highlighting was all GW. Which took me some years to learn. I would like to start running again with some painting combinations that would work for me. Just some basic help would be nice such as what are your three or four paints you like to use when painting bags, armor, weapons and such.

basic colors,.. black, white, silver (metallic), a flesh tone, and a shade of brown (your choice) for leathers,.. You will use these basic 5 colors on virtually every humanoid model you ever paint.
