I am making a scottish highlaner themed army.
here are the two color schemes without kilts

now do I go with red gloves and boots?

or go solid?

ps please ignore the mold lines these are just for color schemes the real ones will be much more refined

IMO - Red boots\\gloves will make them look more unique. But I also think it doesn\'t look so great. Stick with solid.

Also... file them mold lines!!!

I\'d base the colors on the tartan you\'ll use.
Oh, and clean your desk! :p (I sound like my wife)

Seriously now,
I\'d paint the majority of the mini using the least used color in the tartan and some of the trim of the mini in the most used color in the tartan. That\'s what I see in my head if I was going to try it. But I\'d test it out a few times before jumping in, kinda like you\'re doing now.

Im gonna try that idea with the tartan colors.I also added crude kilts to the models.
ps these are crude test models into simple green they go when i\'m done.

heres a tip... paint the boots black then the shinpad white then make the kilt and find a real scottish regiment (42nd Black Watch would be cool or Essex Kent And Scottish (hint hint)) then paint those regimental colours on the kilt and the same for the tunic u should make them little Glengarrys too!

yes i know the EK&S link only shows kilt colour... the tunic is the military green dress tunic

I paint my thumb.
Jolly god, what a mess, how can you work in those conditions ???

Anyway, I like the green one better ( well, I like green.)

Thats not the question ??

Imo, red boot/gloves look bad, with this red anyway, but the overall theme is really missing something, though call.

Think it over while you do some order on this desk...

watch your paint coverage here, try and get a nice even basecoat...

For striping, when I started up (like maybe 5 months ago now - time flies), I tried many many items (perhaps 10-12 diff products).. nothing compares to brake fluid. Just make sure you take all the neccessary precautions (mask, gloves, keep away from animals/kids, don\'t drink etc) :drunk::drunk:

Esinhorn - Love the idea of kilts, but agree try & put pleats in. I use dettol for stripping, as I\'ve got a sprog & 3 cats so brake fluid is a no-no.

I would definitely have a look around some of the historical sites to get an idea of the width of the tartan designs. Black Watch sounds good though.

May want to try the 92nd Gordan Highlanders though an paint the support vehicles up as the Scots Greys, a la the famous charge at Waterloo - description here, and. Some info on uniforms and nice plates too. Possibly adapt the whole myth of the 92nd holding onto stirrups during the Grey\'s charge as a nice bit of fluff for your Chapter.

Have you got a name for them yet?

Good to see you doing your own thing with your mini\'s and having a go

here
