The Zaalaks setup to pounce on two of the Treasure Hunt markers. The Pelegarth took on the duty of Protecting their charges and set up on the flank.
Turn 1: The slow march forward:
The first turn had one Zaalak reach a maker, flipping it and finding a treasure. Nasier loses 2 morale. The Second Zaalak was just short of his marker so sprinting to contact the marker for next turn. The Addanii floated forward – or actually flew forward, their 7 move is pretty awesome to see on the field. Unforunately this lead to Sorik falling behind as he tried (and failed) to keep up with the Addanii. The Pelegarth surged forward with their charges in tow, as the Fell Hammers and Ashmen pushed into the center ready to engage the Addanii and kepp them from the Pelegarth. Both Rathor pushed forward, into position to support their allies. The Bloodchild jumped between the Fel Hammers and the Ashmen.
End of Turn 1: Morale Teknes: 7 Nasier: 7

Turn 2: Things Heat up
Everything gets a little crowded this turn. The Zaalaks each search for a treasure, neither finding one. The central Addanii under Timoshken push forward and search the central treasure marker, which also proves fruitless. The Addanii to the right move in behind the Zaalak to threaten the Pelegarth. The Rathor on the left races forward and eliminates a Zaalak, while the one on the right damged a Brood. The Ashmen race forward to tie up the Addanii brood on the flank while the Fel Hammers Unleash Fury. They smash into 4 of the Brood and begin to tear the small addanii apart, but not without cost. One of the Fel Hammers eliminated a brood warrior outright and was rewarded by not having to take contend with Lash Out. The other three did not fare as well, doing 1-2 damage against each of their targets and receiving Lashout (causing a point of damage on each).
Now this is where things get a little complicated, and it is a special instance due to the abilities of these two troops. The Fel Hammers then had to make Will (2) checks. The first two to do this succeeded on one and failed on the other. So, since the Fel Hammer succeeded he got to make a 1 die magic attack, which if it damages the warrior, they get to make a Lash Out attack. Then due to the will power failure the Fel Hammer dies and triggers Elemental Unbound, which if it hits can trigger another Lash Out. The saving grace was that the Taskmaster was not close enough to have all of the Addanii lash out each hit. The last two Fel Hammers are near enough to the Blood Child to utilize his aura, allowing them to re-roll their Will Checks. At the end of the exchange 3 Addanii and 2 Fel Hammers had dropped, with the survivors all suffering damage.
On the left side Sorik moved forward enough to hit the Rathor with an over power.
The Ashmen chose to engage the Adannii and not attack, forcing the Brood to stop their advance on the Pelegarth until the Ashmen had been dealt with. A lone Ashman charged the Zalaak and managed to inflict a single wound. The Pelegarth continued their push forward, while the Bloodchild took a shot at the Taskmaster, managing to inflict a single wound.
Come the end of the turn Nasier had lost 2 more Morale due to casualties, while Teknes had lost a single point.
End of Turn 2: Morale Teknes: 6 Nasier: 5
Unfortunately I lost the image for the end of turn 2.
Turn 3: To run and protect:
Started out with the Ashmen trying to end the threat on the right flank. With 4 dice the Ashman on the Zaalak rolled enough dice that when 2 were dropped, only a single damage was done to the Zalaak killing it without fear of Overpower. Offensive mastery come in handy yet again. Most of the Ashmen take a beating and the Hakar is left standing with only 2 wounds left, while the brood is left broken. Timoshkin in the center eliminates the last 2 fell hammer and some brood engage the Unmasked. Sorik finishes off theRathor on the left Flank. The central treasure marker is searched and no treasure is found. The Pelegarth race forward yet again, victory in their grasp, but still just out of reach. (Protection really should have been put on the Ashmen, with their move of 7 Protect could have been accomplished in 3 turns instead of the 4 it takes the Pelegarth). The Bloodchild eliminates the Taskmaster and engages the lone brood on the far right side.
End of Turn 3: Morale Teknes: 4 Nasier: 4

Turn 4: All the Marbles
Teknes gets the initiative and decides to go for the killing blow. Timoshkin activates all the brook but the one engaged with the Bloodchild. One brood races over and piakcs up a treasure marker – Morale Teknes 4, Nasier 2. Two Brood engages the Unmasked, while Timoshkin hits the Hakar. Timo, with 2 wounds on him and a re-roll easily dispatches the wounded Hakar – Morale Teknes 4, Nasier 1. The Brood warriors inflict a single damageon the Unmasked. Realizing that the loss of a single troop will cost the game, Nasier activates the Ashman engaged with the unactivated brood warrior and runs away. Sorik hobbles over the rocks and ends up just in range of the Unmasked. With fury he unleashes Galvanic Lightning at the Unmasked, who manages to come out of the attack unscathed. Fearing the loss of any models due to Lash Out, Nasier quickly marchers the Pelegarth protection squad into the Teknes C deployment zone. Game ends with Teknes with -2 morale, and Nasier at 1 Morale.
A fun and exciting game right to the end. It could have gone either way. Protection is a difficult motivation to accomplish, since troops cannot sprint while protecting, and you have to survive until the end of turn to be able to cause the morale loss.
Sorik, while a superb character, starts in the A deployment zone and just cannot keep up with the Addanii. Taking 2 more Zaalaks instead would have been a better choice. With treasure hunt the Teknes should be able to search 3 markers turn 1.
This game was truly about how the Addanii and the Fel Hammers felt on the field, and to be honest, I think they both worked out well. They did not seem overly powerful, though a Fel Hammer can unleash a lot of dice in a single turn, it comes at a steep cost. Getting the Bloodchild close enough to support them is a great thing, but not as easy as it seems, since the Fel Hammers roll the will check at the end of turn, which means that they are likely to charge out of the Bloodchild’s aura range when they attack. The Addanii on the other hand did a great job of tieing down the their opponent, and making any attacks against them come at a steep price. Their move of 7 made them far more maneuverable than expected. The biggest negative to them was the fact that there just wasn’t enough of them to cover all the area they needed to get to. In the end that is what cost Teknes their victory.
This game was so much fun, we had to run another. Highlights of that game coming soon.
