Howdy all, I am working on my IG Vostroyaans and they are coming along fairly well and I was hoping for some feedback.

please keep in mind these are for wargaming and are going to be handled quite a bit. But I also wanted to really emphasize the reds and golds so they would stand out.

Pics are\'nt the best quality but should allow you to see most of the detail.

also, how does my ice river base look?? I am experiemtning with a little white glue and white paint to haze the river colors and hopefully add some depth. get it depth :p ok well anyway...

Comments AND critcisms are more than welcome. I\'m a big boy and I can take it. Thanks a lot!!

I like \'em :D
The only thing maybe would be to put some silver contasting bits here and there.
What you varnishing them with? :D

I have done the comms link guy recently well finished yesterday and thought they were nice sculpts and a joy to paint:D

plan to coat them with Krylon Crystal clear coat and then flat seal the non-shiny parts.

I thought about using some silver on the coners to highlight a little more, but I was worried it would be too much of a highlight on the reds and golds. Right now they have a really rich deep gold and red and I want to keep it that way, but I could test a few models with the silver and see how it looks.

I see what you mean, As a field, army that brightness should look great on the table.
The varnish sounds like just the ticket, that will keep them in great condition :D

That\'s Awesome!! the NMM really stands out. I like the urban basing and thought about it for my own, but then I saw someone here did some ice river style bases I wanted to try that out for them for that added little \"punch\" on the table.

Yes good idea for the bases that icy river theme, they certainly look like there from a cold climate, and thanks for the comments, there\'s a few of us doing one vostroyan each for charity, my first 40k mini and I loved painting him, learn\'t a lot and still have lots more to learn, took me ages to do, lol
What colours did you use to paint the gold bits?
:D

I started out with Vallejo Brass, washed it with Citadel Brown ink, then came back with Vallejo Glorious Gold, washed again with thin chestnut ink, Glorious gold again and then picked out the highlight areas with vallejo Model color Gold.

Overall I am pleased with the gold. I have been working on this recipe for a while now and found that a good heavy wash of brown provides a good depth to the metallic where the light chestnut helps add a warm reddish hue to the color.

The silver/boltgun I still have a little trouble with from time to time, but that\'s not really on topic. Suffice to say my blue, green purple and brown don\'t always come out as I would like and I often have to go back and do it again to get it just right to good a realistic and appealing metallic steel color.
