My Relearning to Paint thread. Starting with Forgeworld Leonatos WIP.

Well Been quite sometime since I last painted anything. Between the kids, ill health and other stupid real life things getting in the way of my hobby, just never seemed to have anytime grrrrr.

Anyway back now and after a quick check through my paints ( a lot have dried up, damn it ) and a quick check of my brushes, phew some still have some bristles left I think I am ready to dive back in.

So I am starting with a Forgeworld ( think its forgeworld, had this model awhile now ) Leonatos, since theres loads of excitement over the new Blood Angels and thought it would be a good starting point.

Anyway first off my work station pic.

Nothing Fancy, but all the room i have to use at the moment.

Now the Leonatos WIP pic, just undercoated and started the base with a very light drybrush of codex grey to pick out some detail.

Anyway, wish me luck, hope to update this often and with more models if I get this one finished.

Hehe yea, it is.

That might be because I have just set it up, so no real work done yet, give me a few hours and a few beers and I will have junk, paint and "other" items all over the shop!

Its good to be back, been itching to paint for awhile now, peoples work has come on so much now, it seems the hobby is at a whole new level, going to be very tough to get to that standard!

Well after such a long break from painting feels like I am back at square one, but this time with broken eye sight, didnt realize how bad my eyes had become, getting odd is a real bugger!

Anyway slapped some paint on the armour and have this done so far.

Started with a dark flesh - Black - Blood red mixed together as an undercoat.
Base coat of Dark Flesh - Blood Red Mix
Another layer of Dark flesh - Blood red mix ( more blood red this time )
And lastly a Blood Red highlight

Used my undercoat colour to add some shades.

I think the armour is around 60% done, think I need to add more highlights and take them up to quite a bright highlight on the very edges.

Couple of bits of advise needed please:-

1# Does anyone know what colour Leonatos Shoulder pads are, a quick google and its seems its red trim, black inside, is that correct?

Also is the chest eagle gold, cream, bone, white, seen it done a few ways and unsure which is right?

2# The battle damage, whats the best way to tackle it, checked the stickies page and saw a great example, using dark flesh, black and white to create the battle damage, but dont think that will stand out very well since my armour has a lot of dark flesh in the mix, any ideas on a good colour combo to make the damage pop?
