Welcome aboard!

There is plenty of smurf fans around so soon they will came over here ;)
All I can say from the picture you posted is that it looks brilliant indeed, I see lots of nice scratches, paint looks smooth, and the model "reads" well... so keep on painting him!

PS: Just noticed that the gun has no hole, I've seen some people criticising that on the galleries, so if you can/want drill a bit there ;)

As Maenas said, it's looking great so far, especially after such a long absence from the hobby.

Any chance of cropping the image and upsizing it a little bit, so we can see a bit more of him?

I am just about done with my assault marine needing to finsh off the light from the backpack and tidy him up before i base him. While on Instagram i found Gareth Nicholas Valoris and noticed he had done a tutorial on him so I am going to give it a go and see how i get on. I have started on his left leg and i am about there just need to sort out the blending and the white highlights.

As the others have said, welcome back to the hobby. And it looks like you've hit the ground running. The assault marine has a very distinct style that works. More brush time will help you refine your skills and step it up even further. I too have have long breaks when painting, so I know the struggles when coming back. The latest picture size works well - I'd probably avoid uploading the full size pictures. I'm looking forward to seeing where you take steel/silver armour.

welcome back to the hobby, you seem to be getting back up to speed quick. I like the battle damage you are putting on the marines. gives them a great gritty look

thanks for all the welcome back messages :) they are very much appreciated!

Haven't been able to paint much this week due to my son and my own birthday but i did manage a bit of painting last night. trying to paint texture with a bit of stippling on his robes, I also painted a bit more of the armour once I have done the gold bits i will go back over the white bits and tidy everything up. Hopefully have more of him done over the weekend :)

He is looking great alim! The texture on the cloth is superb, and the high gloss chrome look you've got going on blows me away. He's going to be incredible when finished.
