My new miniature

So painted up Captain Lysander Of The Imperial Fists. Done lots of damage on the armour, but starting with a chaos black undercoat was a bad move took about 16 layers of yellow to get a base coat. Live and learn.
Think the hammer is about the best nmm I have done so far. Also used some red and brown glazes on the face to try and get it to sit out more which I need to practice on but like how the first try went.

did you paint the battle damage on? or is it 3D (did you actually use a knife or something?)

i like the NMM its very good

It\'s the positioning of the feet that spoiling this for me.
The Back foot without a supporting level of rok behind the main rock makes it look totaly \"forced\" and completly out of context.

Otherwise the painting is good.

Painting is great - I really do like it a lot but the pose isn\'t dynamic enough to work with the position on the base for me.

Got to go with DR on this one (re: the base)
The painting is outstanding, except for the scroll on the back. It seems a bit flat and out of place with the quality of the paint over the rest of the mini. Perhaps a little more highlighting?

the right leg looks like it should be more forward for the pose on the rock. also don\'t really like the base for play as it may be a bit wobbly.

don\'t care for yellow that much, but it is lysander, and looks good.

it does look kind of frozen atop the rock while trying to stand on flat ground.

i always wish they would amke legs seperate for positioning rather than jsut a waste wiht the legs attached so these things can be done better by people without green skills like me.

i wouldn\'t change this one since its well painted, but you may want to look more at the pose with future bases and try to do the best you can with the fixed legs that GW supplies if you can\'t remodel them to your prefered poses.

Yeah the base ain\'t great but was sick of flat bases, the right leg would need to be moved up and forward really but it and the cloak are one piece and I do not have the skill to cut out a full leg and green stuff it. But it does look odd the more I look at it so, I\'m building up the rock more as I don\'t what to lose the height.

All the damage was painted on.

Great job painting tho some close ups would rock to show off some of the chips cracks and other dmg as well as a nice close up of the face and that hammer looks swank.

That base works alot better with your additional hunk o rock.

yeah, that\'s significantly better with the extra mass on the base.

I forgot to say before but the NMM on the hammer is bloody good... really smooth and realistic!

mauch better positioning now you have filled in the rock, nice painting although its very hard to see coz it seems to be a picture of the backgroun with a a mini in the way!

So update on the base filled out the back with 3 slate steps just to show how he got up on the rock and stuck some stronger highlights on the back scroll for you Th :).

i still hate the color yellow in general. (odd cause i love green)

but the more i see of this the more i like it.

just don\'t get mad and throw this thing across the room should he die. those arrowhead steps might do some real damage to someone.

Well a miniature that can do someone a lot of hurt is a good thing, nice to look at but also doubles up as a ninja space marine throwing star = A+.

oh yeah. they aren\'t jsut for mock battles anymore! i had someone \"trip\" onto a table once to purposefully mess up a game hoping we would quit playing so the table could be used for Magic the Gathering.

he fell on a metal Lictor and had to go get stitches. little bit of glue back at home and the lictor was good to go.

teach those CCG nuts that tables are for real games and they can go play in the floor in a corner somewhere! lol

MUCH better! only one thing i would do now is add a teeny bit of brown th the rocks to make them look a little more natural and weathered
