Hi all,

I finally got round to applying the suggestions Dragonsreach gave me for this one the last time I submitted her and so, here she is.

Any comments etc would be great.

And if you feel like throwing votes at her, here\'s a link: http://www.coolminiornot.com/68220

Thanks

It looks really good but could be lot better if the picture was bigger and sharper.

Nice mini. I like how you used red and blue together. usualy I cannot stand that combination but it looks great on your mini. Any possibility you could post a clearer and bigger picture? from what I can see it looks like this mini will be a solid 7-7.5

OhOh What did I say?

Can I be held to it in a court of law?

Please bear with me I\'m gonna have to look at Propaintjob\'s Gallery to see if I\'ve incriminated myself.

It looks good from what I can see. A better picture that focuses more on the figure is imperative; too much of the pic is taken up by \'other stuff\'.

Right I\'ve been and gone and had a look......and you\'ve taken down the original! For the life of me I can\'t remember what I said (Ok old age I guess) so anyhow I put up a comment and voted so here we go:

This is actually a 7.5-8 figure, but IMHO it needs a couple of things to help it on the way up.
The pic needs to be concentrated on the figure so it could do with being cropped a little.
She also needs to have a photograph taken with her rotated 45 degrees so that the point of the base is straight at the camera.
And lastly the lighting on the mini is a little flat and seems to lack in contrast, which because of the colour scheme choices should really stand out.
The paintjob itself looks nice, clean and smooth.

I\'ve just had this figure delivered, thanks to a trade Primeval & I arranged, and I can say without doubt that it\'s going to be difficult to paint it without using the same colour scheme.

Oh and Smoth, I\'m always lively (when I\'m not at work) lol

thanks

Thanks all for the comments.

I now have a second halogen lamp (hence the loss of shadow as seen on the Bretonnian Standard Bearer) so I\'ll see if I can get a better pic tonight and post it.

I love this mini & I know exactly what you mean Mike, it was the first colour scheme that entered my head when I ordered it. Usually blue & red only seem to work well in pale shades for me, that\'s part of the reason I opted for the bone coloured armour, to try & tie the two together.

The blue I used was Reaper Brionne Navy, highlighted with Reaper Blue Black mixed with Vallejo MC Foundation White. For the red I went with Winsor & Newton Finity Series 4 Pyrrole Red and used Vallejo MC Scarlet to lighten it.

Thanks again, I\'m off to try & get a better picture, I\'ll let you know when I have one :)

Ok, here she is with a sharper picture, still working on one from another angle and will post it when I have it :)

bloody camera

Right then, after lots of fiddling with loads of buttons on my camera, all of which should be labelled \'pigs ear effect\' I\'ve settled on this one. lol

This picture manages to get things sharp and it\'s at the angle Mike suggested, however it does create an illusion of a gloss coating. Which it\'s not.

But, with 3 pics to cover all bases I reckon you\'ll all be able to piece together how she actually looks.

:flame: camera

Cheers

nice job!

I have just a couple of suggestions about her:
-i think that the shadows on her face are a bit too dark, xpecially around the mouth: you should try to soften them with a couple of wash of a lighter colour
-her hair need a little more highlighting

for the rest the mini is pretty good and i love her eyes, keep posting!

cheers luca, maybe you can help me out regarding the hair.

You know how when you see long dark hair on a woman and the hair is so dark, almost black, and where the light catches is the darkest of brown? (my fave colour hair on a woman) :D
That\'s the effect I was trying to get, although it didn\'t prove to be as easy to paint as it is to describe, any suggestions of how to get that effect?

Thanks in advance

Well, i\'d paint hair highlighting the part where they bend, at +45° -45° and on her left shoulder. i may suggest to use the original colour + increasing Bleached Bone or similar as it provides a good natural color and helps to frame her face

i hope to be useful!

Thanks Luca, I\'ll give that a try on some other mini\'s I\'m working on. I didn\'t go for bleached bone to highlight the hair on this one as I was working with a scorched brown type colour and was concerned it may have looked pinkish.

I\'d originally thought of doing black hair with pronounced blue highlighting which, looking back might have looked better.

The mini looked a little shiney in the last pic I saw. I would suggest a few thin coats of Testors Dull Cote.

The mini looks nice and I like the colors. The shading on the chest armor looks too dark compared to the overall bone color.

They say first impressions!

The thing that lept RIGHT OUT at me, which I don\'t think should have, is the black line in the middle of the sword. Too dark.

Other than that, Fantastic :D

heheh, cheers Topol.

I\'m kind of new to nmm & as the line in the middle of the sword is a sculpted hollow I figured it should be black. Looking forward to taking my nmm L-plates off soon :D

Any tips from anyone on the colour I should have made it? DR, as you\'ve got that mini in front of you, what would you say?
