oh..! So this didn\'t win anything either..?
what an astounding quality of entries! You have a great technique and the colour selection is very pleasing to my eyes. I love the ambient feel you are talking about. The conversion is very dynamic and the painting and sculpting of the face is truly jaw-dropping. You should be really proud of this achievement!!
However when the judges have to choose between entries of this high standard.. I think there were some things that were to your disadvantage. This is really nit-picking.. but so are the judges of GD.
You get the things you do with GS right.. but they get slightly uneven in some cases. And a few more lack the sharp edges that makes the detail pop. My point is, even if the conversion is very good, you can in fact tell that it is a conversion. The second thing is that there are some small places where the painting isn\'t up to the very high levels of the rest of the mini.. for example the freehand on the left shoulderpad and the grenades on the backpack. It is nothing I would mend about. But when judging.. this can be the small thing that shift the judges opinion. I think the cure for these small problems would be to invest even more time in the mini.. be sure to make every last detail in a GD-winning standard. I read that you invested 40-45 hours on this piece.. and when it comes to GD, it\'s not really that much.
I think you have steadily improved, and I think next time you\'ll get your demon. Again.. amazing work, would have beat the crap out of most contestants in another GD. But the french this year was truly something.
