Hi my girlfriend has told me to start doing a log on my blood angels as shes sick of me acting like a stalker on here and that I should come out from the shadows and start showing off my work. I've just got back into the hobby a year and a half ago from a 10 year break and decided to do a space marine army. I have always loved the background of the blood angel's especially the death company. The standard im painting these to is basic gaming standard with a wee bit of free hand and the main charaters being done to a slightly higher standard. I still haven't decided on what to do with the bases yet I was thinking of either industrial or desert but still not sure yet. anyway to the pics!!

The death company dread has had the lower legs rebuilt, the face mask drilled out and a space marine head embedded in it so he could see his enemys face when rips them apart

.
My sanguinary guards are based around winterdyne's ones he did a while ago. I've still got a lot to do on these and i'm still deciding on whether to do NMM or true metallics
The last pic is the standard im doing the basic troops. he still needs his free hand symbols on his shoulders as well as bits of text on the purity seal, leg and shoulder guard. the bolter needs finished as well.
The terminator captain is at the early stages i've still got to smooth out the cloth between his legs and remove some detail so i can sculpt some blood angel symbols on there. Im also needing to sculpt pipes for the flamers on his power fists to go to the canisters on his back.

any feed back would be great

thanks for looking

One thing that you can do to make the marine better is to use a darker red in the shadows. This to make more contrast in the figure, try to fina a simple way for more contrast in the red.

One suggestion can be that when you basecote the figure you first basecote it in black and then use a white primer directly from the top of the figure. That will give you a figure with senital light in a fast way. If you then use a little bit thindown red when you paint there will be more contrast in the red since there will be a diffrence hwere ther are white or black undercoat.

Hope this will help you.

Yay! More BA's!

Well, if you want to add more contrast, go for dark shoulder pad rims, and something nice and contrasting for the base. And once the decals are on, they will have some more visual interest as well.

thanks for the comments :D

I have been trying different colours to shade the red without making it to dark. I'll try the dark angels green as i've already tried using different blues and purples.

shoould have some more pics up either tonight or tomorrow of some death company that i've started
