I read the two excellent articles about how to make lava. I was wondering if anybody as any suggestions for creating a river of lava. BTW This is for 54mm (1/32 scale)

First of all, welcome to the forum :).

>> This << might help. I did it almost a year ago and with the time I\'ve come to realize that there\'s too much yellow in the paints (should be more orangy) but I think it can help you with the general flow of the lava.

I started by making the solid lava rocks. They\'re just clumps of GS that I textured by using an old toothbrush. I then defined the wave with an armature and GS, but you might not need that ;).

I then defined the flow of the lava. >> Color/clay shapers << can be useful for this. In the same time I made a few bubbles of lava by applying a ball of GS on the base, blending it to the base, and then slowly opening the top part and redefining the outer part to give the bursting effect.

Hope this helps.

thank you very useful. Do you remember the colours you used and wether you dry brushed, painted, or airbrushed?

Freeze frame through the last half hour of the last Starwars.
Excellent advice!

@godfather :

black primer

For the molten lava (blended and some washes) : scorched brown, scab red, red gore, blood red, blood angel red, fiery orange, golden yellow, sunburst yellow, and skull white. But the yellow paints should have been used more sparingly.

For the solid lava (blended and some controlled drybrushing to give a rough rock effect) : chaos black, codex grey, fortress grey, skull white, and the colors used for the molten lava for the OSL effect.
