post-2668-0-12476800-1457168632.jpg

HISTORY OF AN ARMY:

While excavating further tunnels in Karak Norn, a group of miners discovered a small rune bound chest. The discovery was brought to the immediate attention of the King of Karak Norn, who then called his greatest Runesmiths together to decipher the ancient text that seemed to bind the chest closed. After several days of deliberation, which is very fast in Dwarf terms, the answer was that the chest was "evil". During the trials, three of the Runesmiths were severely injured, their minds reduced to childish gibberish. Recognizing that the chest could pose a great threat, but unknowing of the exact nature of the threat, the King of Karak Norn decides to dispatch a small force to take the chest to the greatest Runelord still living, Thorek Ironbrow of Karak Azul.

Hoping to not cause great alarm in his own kingdom, the King sends a summons to a remote clan, the Stonefists. and Kalar Stonefist, leader of the clan, immediately dispatches his eldest son, Karal Stonefist and his best warriors and quarrellers to meet with the King. Once Karal arrives, he is given the chest and a sealed letter to present to the other Dwarf Holds along his route south, with specific instructions not to read the letter. He is also given a great cannon and contingent of the Kings very own body guard to ensure success of the mission.

Heading south through the Grey Mountains, it is not long before Karal and his contingent are set upon by a Night Goblin tribe, attacking with a fury and precision unusual for the greedy Gobbos. All may have been lost, but as the battle began to turn a roaming band of Slayers arrived, pushing the tide of battle back in favor of the dwarves. Soon, the Night Goblins were in a full route. After explaining his mission to Logan Battlefury, the leader of the Slayers, Logan agrees to stay with the Stonefists until the expedition is complete.

In the meantime, Skarsnik,, Warlord of the Eight Peaks, had been engaged in a stalemate attack on the defensive hold of Karak Eight Peaks against the self-proclaimed true king of the Hold, Belagar Ironhammer. As the dwarves of the Hold began to prepare a counter offensive to attempt to sway the battle, a great mist arose shrouding the battlefield. When it dispersed, the entire night goblin army had left. Taking a portion of his forces, Belegar gave pursuit north thru the badlands, and across the black mountains, with the Warlord always one step ahead. During this pursuit, Belegar gave witness to Orc and Goblin tribes gathering in numbers that he had not seen even in his time retaking the Eight Peaks, numbers that could only mean one thing- invasion! Belegar and his force finally found the army, camped in the midst of what was once a small dwarven settlement, the Stonehand Hold. Now reduced to rubble, a rage came over Belegar and his army charged straight in, finally routing the army of night goblins and sending them scrambling. After questioning a few captured goblins, and before executing them, it is discovered that Skarsnik was seeking a chest within the hld. Soon finding the devastated remnants of the Stonefist clan, Kalar Stonefist relayed the tale of the chest and his son’s treacherous quest to deliver it to Karak Azul. With a promise to rejoin him, Belegar leaves a small contingent with Kalar to assist him in getting the surviving woman and children to the safety of Karak Norn and to help bolster his son’s chances of success. With that, Belegar sets off to warn the King of Kings, Thorgrim Grudgebearer of what has transpired and of what he saw in the Badlands, while Kalar speedily heads to catch up with his son.

KARAL, DWARF THANE

KARAL STONEFIST, DWARF THANE, ELDEST SON OF KALAR STONEFIST
Karal Stonefist, the eldest son of the King of the Stonefist Clan Kalar Stonefist. Karal, a mere 108 years old, has been given a critical mission by his father, Kalar. Well-liked by all in the clan, Karal has led a life of relative ease and peace in the hold. With this quest, he can now prove that he is worthy to one day lead the Stonefists. He was tasked to travel to Karak Norn, retrieve a package from the king of Karak Norn, then proceed to travel to Karak Azul to present the package to Thorek Ironbrow for examination. A simple box inscribed with one glowing rune... Along with this the King of Karak Norn also gave him sent with him 10 of his best warriors, from his own personal guard (The Gryphons Talons), and a letter that he was told to present to each King that he came across on his way to Karak Azul, but oathsworn not to read himself. Little does the Dwarven realm know that they have entrusted the future of not only the Dawi, but of the world on his broad shoulders.

BHALGUR'S SUREFIRES

BHALGUR'S SUREFIRES
Bhalgur Surefire, another dwarf of a young age, being born the same year as Karal Stonefist, has quickly become one of the best and most reliable hunters of the Stonefist Clan. Not having a "proper" fighting force, Karal asked Bhalgur to gather his best hunters together to form a fine crossbow regiment. Bhalgur did this, and within a matter of hours the Surefires were ready for this grand adventure.

The Gryphon's Claw is an elite guild within Karak Norn that comprises some of the mightiest warriors within the hold, all of whom are oathsworn to the King of Karak Norn himself and would gladly give their lives in his service. The King has granted this small contingent to protect Karal on his quest, knowing what few other Dwarfs know, that the outcome of this mission could very well be the end for what remains of the Dwarven Empire.

LOGAN BATTLEFURY, DWARF DRAGONSLAYER

Logan Battlefury, brother of Logrim Battlefury and the original heir apparent to the Battlefury Clan. Logan took the slayer oath many years ago, after fighting a decisive battle against a hording Night Goblin army. Outnumbered nearly ten to one, Logan and his father charged into battle knowing that victory was not possible. The Battlefury Clan fought valiantly, and somehow managed to route the Gobbo's, but at a terrible cost. Logan's father lost his life, as did three fourths of the remaining dwarf army. From this day, Logan and a handful of the surviving Battlefury Clan took the slayer oath, vowing to eradicate the Gobbo incursion into the kingdoms of the Dwarves and have since wandered the holds offering their might to any Dwarfs in need.

THE OATHSWORN - DWARF SLAYERS
Once proud members of the Battlefury Clan, this group of Dwarfs have taken the Slayer Oath and vowed two things, to follow Logan Battlefury to the death and to ensure that that death comes at the cost of many Greenskin lives. Every member of the Oathsworn lost a great number of fathers, brothers, and sons during the battle of Jorgen Pass. After taking the oath, this group of Slayers have given up right to clan in order to wander the world freely, in search of there prey.

BARDAL THE MAD

One of the runesmiths tasked with testing the rune bound chest in Karak Norn, Bardal was once the head smith of the clan. During the final attempt to break the bindings on the chest, Bardal and two other runesmiths were hit with powerful enegy from the chest, wiping there minds free. Bardal now can speak only in gibberish, but the one phrase that continues to come is "He is coming!". Where once he wielded proud hammer and pounded runes against anvil, Bardal now wields a field scythe and somehow maintains much of his power, carving intricate runes into the earth itself. After the expedition left, Bardal followed and continues following, though for reasons of his own imagining he stays hidden in the shadows, unbeknownst to the Dwarfs he follows.

THE QUINTUPLET

The Quintuplet is the crown jewel of Belegars kingdom. Its five barrels are smaller and fire lighter shot than the Cannon, which means it is more maneuverable but less effective at long range. Where it lacks in range, however, it makes up for in sheer killing capability, often times shredding entire regiments of enemy troops. When paired up with a regiment of heavy infantry, the Quintuplet becomes nearly impossible to stop. But, as with any heavy war machine, the consequences of not knowing how to operate and fine tune the contraptions could lead to devastating effects. Many Organ Guns have been known to blow up and kill their entire crews. This is why any time the crew of the Quintuplet are near, fellow companions are quick to buy a round or share a drink.

KALAR STONEFIST, DWARF THANE, THANE OF THE STONEFIST CLAN

Kalar was the one time ruler of the Stonefist Hold, on the outskirts of Karak Norn, and paid tribute to the King of Karak Norn. When a mysterious chest was found in the belly of Karak Norn, King Brokk Ironpick sent a summons to the Stonefist clan for immediate assistance. Loyal to the bone, Kalar immediately dispatched his son to retrieve the item and take it to Karaz Azul, where it could be investigated by the greatest runesmith to ever live, Thorek Ironbrow. Soon after, a large army led by the goblin warlord, Skarsnik, attacked the small Stonefist hold with no warning. With little time to react, Kalar and the clan fought as valiantly as they could but were soon overrun. If not for the goblins pausing to loot and raze the hold, the clan may not have survived. Kalar, knowing he could not defeat such a force, began to gather the survivors and make the treacherous trek to Karak Norn. On the way, a large dwarven force led by Belegar Ironhammer, King of Karak Eight Peaks, found the devastated force and informed them that he had scattered the goblin force but that the hold had been completely destroyed. During this time, the two discovered the reason for Skarsniks brutal attack had been to find a chest, and soon the realism of the importance of this chest became more apparent. Leaving a unit of ironbreakers and an organ gun with Kalar, the two part ways, Belegar to report to the King of Kings, Thorgrem Grudgebearer, and the other to reunite with his endangered son.
