Motivations

Figured I would start a thread about these. So far we have played 10 or so game of WoK. We are playing the Skirmish level, and we are finding out that the games lasts about 3 turns each game (sometimes 2 turns). This always hinges on the motivations. I was wondering if everyone was seeing this.

It just seems that the Motivations are just a little too good at reducing the enemy Moral. Most of the games we play end with the majority of the models still on the table. Just feels that the games end too quick, many times before you even get to use the tactics you have built up with your troop movements.

The second issue with the motivations is that there will be problems placing objectives at times when we move to battle sized games. With objectives 30mm-50mm in size and the fact that they cannot be placed within 6" of another objective or the edge of the board, some of the motivation pairs will be nearly impossible to do. Last night we had Rags to Riches and Killing Ground on a skirmish level battle, so 3 30mm and 2 50mm had to be placed in the e Zone, so while tight it was possible. In a Battle level game we would have had 5 30mm bases and 2 50mm bases, and while I have not worked out the math yet, this problematic on whether or not we will be able to fit all of that in the E zone. This is just something that should be considered.

Perhaps a fix to this issue could be motivation scaling; it seems in a large scale game you would have much higher morale and in the skirmish game you would likely have 7 or less morale so the drop by 2 for completing the objective makes a big difference in the flow of the battle.

I was just thinking about the scaling idea. If you loose, say 2 or 3 Morale normally, then maybe at a Skirmish level it should only be 1. Maybe at Skirmish level you can only loose 1 Morale at a time from the same effect?
