Who\'s the guy/girl that showed more progress in painting in a small amount of time?

The first name that comes into my mind is Astonia... tell me your idea!

well there\'s always that guy who won a salyer sword at the canadian GD after only 1 year of painting :p Hard to beat I say. Can\'t remeber is name though.

Astonia, your first posts here were already better than most of my work, but I think with your last couple of minis you\'ve made a great leap upwards in skill. Were your minis posted \"in real time\" or are your first posts older than this May?

I think a lot of people here (like me) have really improved a lot since joining, and I for one like to think it\'s the site\'s influence. Constant exposure to new techniques and the best work the hobby has to offer just has to rub off on you.

Most of my minis are posted in \"real time \", except some of the lowe ranked lizardmen stuff which I painted before I found CMON.

But I didn\'t work or study all summer, so I had lots of time to practice, especially since it rained all summer here, so I think I spent at least 10 hrs a day painting for 2 months.

OK, that answered my other, unspoken question. You spent as much time painting this summer as I have in the last couple of years...

Yes. Hi Vince :D

I\'d think I would say Klute or Nelson, but that\'s so long ago, they\'re both really good now. But I haven\'t really been following anyone.. Astonia is doing great now :D Dunno what I can say, haven\'t been following anyone recently except myself(not too fast of an improvement though :/ )

More in a day than I get to paint in 2 weeks. No wonder you improved so much. If I could only figure out a way where I didn\'t have to work & put 2 girls through school....

Hmmmm......

For me I think Bakalla has come on in leaps and bounds, but that\'s because I have seen quite a lot of his figs from when he first started. I\'m sure there are lots of other worthy contenders out there :D

Yeah, I still have the luxury of not being responsible for anyone else than myself, so I could live on my saved money during the summer.
When I think of it I did some work though...painting minis for ebay :D

so many names...

I tend to agree with the ones you have listed. Klute, Bakalla, and especially Astonia....

I think they all have stumbled on to the great secret of mini painting. First, it obviously takes skill, but more importantly they seem to paint much much more than the \'average\' painter.

I\'m not saying that just by continually painting always will make better painters, but it certainly doesn\'t hurt!

I am gonna jump on the Astonia bandwagon - especially after seeing the parts of the RRM that she did - most impressive if you ask me!

How about the Best Sportsmanship Award?

I never win anything. Is there a Most Regressed Painter? I might have a shot at that.

Astonia\'s a good vote in my book. Of course, don\'t discount Supervike. His ranking has jumped a significant amount since this time last year.

Well, I don\'t know whom to name, but...

....I got a full year into painting miniatures in June and before that, I didn\'t realize the realm of miniatures/gamers even existed.

I do credit this site and its many member for the astounding help so readily given. In the world of art, whatever your forte, it seems to me that so many are unwilling to share their secrets.....not so here at CMON.

Many thanks to all, for a grand welcome into your world! :D

Yup Astonias got it in my book but there are many among us that have made real strides forwards some have been named here but another name I would like to add is Danse Macabre his Orc General was a big stride forward as he was trying new things on this mini.

Well... I paint my first mini 2 years ago (november 2002). In this summer I won Russian GD (I take first places in three categories) and won Golden Demon on GD UK 2004...

And now nothing can\'t stop me from winning Slayer Sword! lol
