Mixing paints in wet palette?

I have a small but very irritating problem. I use a basic wet palette made from toilet paper and baking parchment and I have used toothpics to mix paints. The problem is that no matter how careful I am I often brake the surface of the palette and the toilet paper absorbs all the paint. It´s very frustrating when it happens in the middle of a blending session. So what should I use to mix my paints? Any ideas?

Ps. Old brushes seem to work fine but they absorb too much paint and they aren´t too clean either.

Cheers

Not bad. Only problem is that I use Em4 brushes and their handles are very thick. But from your message I got an idea that might just work. I could cut pieces of plastic sprue and sand them. They should be smooth enough and also easy to clean or make new ones if necessary. Thanks for the indirect solution.

My advice would be to do most of your major mixes outside of the wet palette, then transfer the paint to the parchment. I mix on a ceramic tile but whatever works for you - plastic palette with wells, aluminium foil, sheet of glass.

In-process mixtures can still be done on the parchment as the need arises.

yup those refills are cheap as chips really and you can abuse them with the pointy end of the brush as much as you like......
