Hi, this is the first time I post a WIP here on CMON.

The actual mini is Khorgos Kul, and I'm trying to paint it following Ben Komet's videos from Painting Buddha.

My paint level is quite low, so I really hope to improve a bit with this mini. Also I will put all my WIP in this thread, with the hope, one day, to see progresses done.

I'm really looking for comments and suggestions

P.S. Sorry for the bad quality of the picture, I will try to get better ones in next steps :)

Will follow you and yes I do believe progress will follow with time :)
And practice!! don't run in despair if things don't look good at first, keep working, looking those very good videos, opening a wip here is also a super good idea. I am sure you are already improving!! Go go go!! ^^

First thing : thanks all for suggestion and kind word :)
I know that the best thing is practice, and I also think that PaintingBuddha Videoa are a good path to walk on in this trip.

Then, a little update on this WIP.

Almost done the crap hand, and added a first layer of base coat on face's mask

I think by practice Maenas meant Photoshop. Just fix it in post :p Great start, don't worry it's looking good.

Oh, yes of course..... it spares you quite a few dollars on brushes and paints.... it also saves a lot of working table room xD xD

Red is a difficult color, I use pink flesh as highlights and tone it into the red. I do believe you need more highlight color. I also go over the "pink" parts later on with a red glaze to harmonize it. Also I do use some blue in the shadows sometimes.

Looking good, you can smooth the red out with glazes later. Keep at it!

Another small update.

I'm quite slow and learning from the video so it is taking ages to make progresses... but I'm learning a lot so I think it is worth the effort!! :)

Kudos for giving nmm a go: I haven't dared try it yet.

the red is a bit dark: you could try really thin glazes of your basecoat/highlight red to brighten it up. Other than that it looks like a good start!

Hi,

thanks a lot for your comments.

I will definitively put my hand back on the red later. I'm not 100% happy with that.

In the meantime I'm progressing ( a bit ) with the axe

Hope to finish it in the next days so to move to next video : Korghos Khul - Chapter 7 - The Cloak :)

Dr. Bob

but not THAT Dr. Bob
That's a really complex model! The NMM looks great on the axe and cuffs. (I wonder if you can get the trim on his armor to "pop" more?) I also really like the skull sitting on his head!
