Minis Painted by Youngbloods (14 and under)

C
Ok I am not 13 but not a old guy eather. There arn\'t too many young painters that enter contest and wish there would be. Me, now 17, remember entering contest at that early age. Its hard because you feel like the little guy. But keep your chin up and kick some ass :D I will be posting some pic of my mini soon!

Im mainly posting this because I will most likely be entering the Golden Demon in Baltimore so I want to see how good other painters my age are. look forward to seeing ur minis cortez :)

I guess that makes me old, ya young whipersnappers! :p

Anyways, you can try: http://www.demon-winners.fr.st/ for previous GD winners. Take a look at the French Youngbloods, they\'re a match for the top artist here at CMON!

Originally by Crispy.

Hmm this conversation came up at work with comments like:-
\"Hey Mike when you went to school, did you have to hunt your own food?\" &
\"At least my birth certificate isn\'t on stone and in roman numerals\" (as an aside it\'s MCMLVI)

So if you\'re made to feel old Crispy, think of me. My mind still tells me I\'m a teenager but my body quickly reminds me that I\'m not.

As to all those youngsters starting out:- Good Luck. There\'s a teenager in my local store who if posted here would be getting regular 8 & 9\'s. :p
Fortunatley he\'s still in the youngbloods for this year.

Perhaps a grading system would be useful on CMON?

I\'ve seen a number of really shitty paint jobs on CMON with relatively high ratings, and even higher personal ratings from those that leave comments. Then it turns out that the model was painted by a little kid and everyone\'s been really generous with their voting because of that. What may appear bloody awful begins to look quite good for a novice 5 year old! With a graded system you could have under 8\'s, 9 - 14\'s, and then the rest of us would all come under the old farts category.

A graded system would stop excellent efforts by younger painters, but comparatively poor paint jobs from getting mixed up with the better quality work on this site. Little Johnny\'s plastic orc dipped in green paint might be a 6 in comparison to other orcs dipped in green paint, but it sure as hell ain\'t worth a 6 in comparison to a lot of the 6 rated stuff here!

Just a thought, and I\'m not getting at the younger, less experienced painters either.

:D

I\'ve always agreed with Sturms point . . . It\'a all about the figure, the figure, the figure . . .

Though I wouldn\'t object to an age filter - or even a sex filter (careful perverts!)

Hmmm. I vote the mini, not the painter. Age, just like any category, is going to be an over and under-inclusive category. There are plenty of 50-yr olds who decide to take up a new hobby, or perhaps who continue their old hobby after debilitating injury, who paint remarkably well considering their limitation. Then there are folks who have been painting for 20 years and still don\'t know which end of the brush to hold.
Still, the under 14 is an indication of experience as you can\'t have more than 9 years painting experience. Since there\'s nothing else we can really limit by, and we want to encourage newer (usually translated younger) painters, I accept age categories - but still don\'t want them on CMON.

Oh, Mike, I just noticed you are from Bolton! What\'s it like living in a Pun? \"no, not a pun, not a pun, a palendrome....\"lol

???Vince you\'ve got me confused, a palendrome is a word that is the same in either direction.??? Or do you mean Bolton is an ACRONYM in the states? if so what for?

As for living in Bolton it\'s not bad. Cold, wet,.. usual English weather. Nice People. Good GW store & staff, reasonable clientele almost sane, I said almost....

Okay, I guess you\'re not as big a fan of Monty Python as I am. It\'s a line from the cheese shop skit from the old Flying Circus TV show: \"when I said Bolton that was a pun\" \"a pun?\" \"no, not a pun, not a pun, a palendrome\" Cleese getting very angry \"a palendrome of Bolton would be Notlob!\"
Guess you had to see it to enjoy it.

Umm I like all these post to help all, what is few of the younger painters but don\'t start a different topic, like MONTY PHYTON crap. Know affence I just never got into it. I think its kinda what I call stupid. Im not British eather. Oh and Sturm don\'t get insulted by when I called British people \"Thick Headed\" at GW. I meant to say I didn\'t like way they handled this new internet retailer Bullsh**. No hart feeling man.

I\'ve posted some of my daughter\'s stuff (she\'s 6 now) and sometimes her stuff gets wild scores, 10\'s and 9\'s. I agree that they are often way too high. Unfortunately we often get hammered by other users who criticise us for the high scores we get. That\'s even more uncalled for than a 10. I also know that even my minis are getting 2\'s and 3\'s because some people feel so much animosity toward my daughter\'s scores. I\'ve even got some pretty nasty personal messages. But it usually evens out in the end.
Anyway, I think an age filter would be great and we would definitely take advantage of it.

I\'d also like to see some accountability for voting. Let\'s see which user voted which score on which mini. There\'s no need for a secret ballot.

This are some of mine first minis
iam 14 and live in the netherlands so you dont have competition from me:D
