Miniature Eyes

Does any one know of any guides or advise on how to paint miniature`s eyes ?

im really struggling so bad with this i can never get then correct.

Iv saw people paint were they show u but there always large miniatures ect.

atm im simply doing off white eyes then dotting with a black dot BUT i carnt seem to to get a perfect dot from a 5/0 brush

Thats a cool article on eyes but as far as getting the paint onto the mini its about practice. Other than whats on offer in that link I would say dont use to small a brush as the paint will dry to quickly. I use a Citadel detail brush for eyes. Also dont thin the paint as much as you normally would, this will give you slightly more control.

I\'d seriously recommend using a larger brush size 1 or 0.
A 5/0 will not hold enough paint to remain liquid long enough to paint in the iris.
Also consider that for most peoples eyes the iris will touch both top and bottom lid so you may be better off starting to paint in the iris as a thin stripe.
Oh and paint the eye in first, much easier than trying to \"Dot the I\" afterwards.

How about not using a brush at all?
Try cutting a toothpick to a really fine point, let the tip soak a moment in diluted paint, let exess drip of, than apply to the eye. I find that it makes hitting the middle of the eye much much easier and the dots are more likely to be the same size on both sides.

I would also recommend using a larger brush than a 00000. The main thing though is no secret - it\'s just a matter of practice.

I agree, i used to avoid eyes like the plague, but after i did a few commisioned minis where i HAD to paint eyes i found it much easier.

00 zero mate, great point and won\'t hold too much paint.

try out the various techniques and see which one you prefer, other than that it\'s just practice and time.

most people find it easier to do the eyes first then paint the face (base coat the face first)
i paint the face first and then do the eyes (takes more practice and you can\'t afford to cock it up!)
