Milliput-what am I doing wrong?

Since the old dark angels vets in robes are gone I decided to add some robes, or as a start just waist down tabards to normal space marines to model vet. sergeants. I picked up the only modeling clay I could find in stock locally which was milliput silver grey. When mixed I get a chunky brittle hard clay substance that I can\'t do anything with. One stick seems okay and I can kinda play with modeling on it, but the other is hard and brittle and when I attempt to mix them it comes up cruddy...anything I try to do makes it crack and break up. Is this a bad putty for modeling, am I doing something wrong, or is it possibly an old batch or something?

Yeah...not too sure how warm I should get it, but it seems to just return to its unworkable hard state as soon as it cools a bit. I\'m considering just waiting till thursday and hoping the gamestore gets some GW greenstuff in stock. patience has never been one of my strong suits though :(

Return it.

\"Milliput leprosy\" is a sure sign it has sat on the shelf for too long (it almost always goes like this over time). This is one of the main reasons people recommend MagicSculp instead since it has a practically unlimited shelf life; apart from that MS is generally much easier to mix and most people find it a little more user-friendly to sculpt with.

Thanks for the help, I\'ll resume my search for a hobby shop in town with more selection...I\'ll keep my eyes open for magicsculpt too!
