Matte finish

I figured I should ask you pros about this.

Being here in Argentina I\'m alittle (well, a lot) in my slection of paints and varnishes. The thing is I\'m painting my minis to the best of my skill, but plan on using them for gaming too. So I want to seal them.

But The only thing I got close to a matte varnish is a medium varnsih. Now, apllied as usual it\'s still too glossy for my taste, and demerits the paint job. Is there any wy (mix it with black, I dunno) to dull it? ???

I once tried a VERY VERY thin wash of black over the shiny bits and that worked out better than I had hoped. But since then I\'ve bought paint on matte from Ral Partha and Vallejo.

But even more recently I did the one coat of Testors Gloss followed by two coats of Testor\'s dull coat - WOW! that really deadens things up - even bright metals got really evenly dulled down . . . if you can get it do it - it\'s really impressive considering the range of satin and glosss the regular paints and inks dried to.

I swear by Testors Dull Cote!!! I use my minis for gaiming too, and am a bit heavy handed with sealers. Once I hit \'em with Testors, the shine is gone.

I swear by testors dull cote as well. A little of this stuff goes a long way. Simply amazing stuff. Put it on very thin and re apply when needed. Drys fast too. I would recommend you use a gloss sealer first for durablity. I use the generic GW purity seal due to laziness to find something better.

I third that motion. Testors doesn\'t make may good products, but their matte coat kills shine like Rosanne Arnold killed the national anthem. It\'s the best.

So you\'re saying it really helped dulling it down? Will try it soon on an \"expendable\" mini lol

As far as Testor\'s goes... I\'m afraid it is nearly impossible to find such things here. I will keep it in mind for my next trip to the States thou.

I know New Wave sells Testors, if you can order online. (They have a mixed reputation, but I\'ve been pretty happy with them.)

I know there\'s other online stores, but don\'t remember all the references I\'ve been given by a good friend. I can check into it if you are able to order online and are interested.
