Many heals NW

Hey guys,

New to this game, I'm not sure which faction to play yet, so I'm trying some builds, what do you think about this one :

Faction: Nights Watch
Commander: Donal Noye - Defender Of Castle Black
Points: 39 (3 Neutral)

Combat Units:

• Ranger Trackers (6)
• Sworn Brothers (6) with Jon Snow - Lord Snow (3)
• Ghost (0)
• Sworn Brothers (6) with Roose Bolton – The Leech Lord (3)
• Veterans Of The Watch (8) with Donal Noye - Defender Of Castle Black (0)

Non-Combat Units:

• Craster - Ally of Convenience (3)
• Aemon - Maester Of Castle Black (4)

The idea here is to get as many heals as possible ;)

There are things that I like about your list, but if the idea is maximum healing... there's a few things getting in the way on that list.

Primarily there's Roose. That's paying 3 points with the only value to that list being his healing. If you want that exact ability, the Bolton Flayer will be coming out with the Blackguard for Neutrals. Or better yet, I'd put in a NW Recruiter and save two points. The Bolton Affiliation and extra panic won't help your list at all.

Donal and Lord Snow aren't really healers either (but still good).

Hello and thank you for your advices !

Here we go :

Commander: Jon Snow - 998th Lord Commander
Points: 40 (0 Neutral)

Combat Units:

• Veterans Of The Watch (8) with Jon Snow - 998th Lord Commander (0)
• Ghost (0)
• Sworn Brothers (6) with Watch Recruiter (1)
• Sworn Brothers (6)
• Ranger Trackers (6)
• Ranger Trackers (6)

Non-Combat Units:

• Aemon - Maester Of Castle Black (4)
• Craster - Ally of Convenience (3)

Think I got more heals now, with Jon + Watch Recruiter + Aemon + Craster. What do you think?

That's looking pretty good.

Hint about the Recruiter... His unit doesn't have to be the one causing the triggers to heal wounds. He just has to be engaged with said unit that is causing the triggers. (if that makes sense)

For example, the Sworn Brothers with Recruiter can be engaged with a unit and cause wounds, thus healing themselves. Then your Trackers can fire into that combat (sure, your Brothers will have to take a panic check, but they're good at passing those) and they'll get to heal.

So, I'd suggest your Brothers with Recruiter work in tandem with the two Trackers. Meanwhile the Vets and other Brothers work crowd control.

Nice hint, thank you !

Just ordered a starter set, but it looks like the Trackers unit box is not available yet, so i ordered a Scorpion to take the place of the 2d unit of trackers for the moment. Can't wait to get my hands on the minis !

One small hint about the Scorpion: it doesn't move too quickly and is also a No.1 target for your opponent. One of the ways of protecting it is to sandwich it fairly closely between the two Sworn Brothers units, making sure that they are positioned very slightly further forward so that an assault cannot be launched against the Scorpion as it is set too far back to allow contact.

This way you still have a sufficient angle for shooting with side and front protection from assault.

Once you get the Scorpion in position, use the Free Attack place on the Tactics board to allow it to fire via the NCU, then in its own activation it can have another go.

I think I am missing how you have rules for Donal Noye? Was he a Kickstarter release?

I am going to put my Recruiter with the Veterans almost every time. The amount of healing that can stack on an already tough unit will be insane.

Nice hint, worked like a charm, thanks :)

I get the rules here : https://asoiafbuilder.com/
And yeah, I think he is a kickstarter exclusive, but I proxy him anyway ;)

I think I will put the recruiter in the Vets too, and switch Jon in a unit of Sworn Brothers, because as you said, the stack of healing can be insane.

Donal Noye was not part of the Kick starter. He is due out with Night's Watch Heroes 1. Releasing next month. The info was released on social media.

Hey guys,

I was thinking about another list :

Commander: Jon Snow - 998th Lord Commander
Points: 40 (0 Neutral)

Combat Units:

• Sworn Brothers (6) with Watch Recruiter (1)
• Sworn Brothers (6) with Watch Recruiter (1)
• Veterans Of The Watch (8) with Jon Snow - 998th Lord Commander (0)
• Ghost (0)
• Ranger Trackers (6)
• Ranger Trackers (6)

Non-Combat Units:

• Bowen Marsh - First Steward (3)
• Craster - Ally of Convenience (3)

Slightly different from the other one. Craster and Bowen Marsh will assure me to get my best tactical cards as soon as I can. I still got many heals with 2 Recruiters in my Sworn Brothers + Jon Snow and his tactical cards + Craster.

What do you think?

EDIT : Btw, where can I get Craster please? Is he only in the Free folk Starter set?

Alas. Craster is only in the Free Folk starter.
(I hope they offer some way of getting Craster outside of that starter at some point but they might not)
