Making things more interesting

Hey guys,
Just a quick question for you, Ive played the base Zombiecide and love it. However my gaming group is asking for more and Im just looking for some opinions on what i should get next..

What we do now:
We love the original base game, use some House rules to keep things moving, and even came up with adding a second floor to some buildings and stuff like that to keep things changing and interesting. (We even use Matchbox cars for the cop-cars :) )

What we are looking for:
We are looking at making bigger boards, and adding some new elements to the game, and of course, S2 and the mall addon would do this well, but my question would be, what would be the bext route to go? Would it be worth just buying the game tiles and a Box of Zombies for additional numbers, and use them to expand the board, or create new scenarios (like having the mall attached to the base game, and an objective inside it which they have to bring outside again).. or would it be better to just go all out and buy the full games of each expansion and get everything all at once even though we are the type of players that love the stategy and movement of some well placed zombies, instead of just making the game a slaughterfest?

Reason im asking
We would rather have a HUGE 10 suvivor game going with more interesting objectives to complete and roleplay a story with (which could come simply from the tile sets added to the board) and some well placed spawners, then simply hordes of zombies and a slaughterfest. And while i know i could just modify the S2 rules, to not allow players to become zombies etc, im trying to balance cost.. Do i pay 30 bucks for the tiles and use what i got, or 90 for the game and end up using 1/2 of it..

Suggestions?

Toxic City Mall FTW. You'll get new tiles, new survivors, toxic zombies, and a few new rules to keep you on your toes. IIRC, TCM also introduces rules for games with more than six players, and ultra-red mode. The scenarios tell an awesome story, too. I'm pretty sure it's only 50 dollars, so you get a lot of stuff for your money.

Definitely get TCM.

You'll use almost everything in the box for sure.

As well as adding Toxic Zombies (which add their own layer of additional strategy to the game), it also adds Barricades, Rubble, and more differently coloured spawn markers. These alone add a reasonable amount of additional options to scenario design.

Now, when it comes to Prison Outbreak, it's a tricky one. You could just get the Prison Tile Pack, and the Angry Zombies Box of Zombies, and you'd get most of the guts of what you get in the full game box. It adds switches, more colours of objectives, observation towers/additional rooms, and a wider variety of cars. The main things you'll be missing that way are the Survivors/Zombivors and a bunch of extra Normal Zombies.

Oh, one point to note, though, is that the Box of Zombies boxes don't contain Abominations (so if you were to get Angry Zombies and the PO Tile Pack instead of the full Prison Outbreak game box, you wouldn't have a Beserker Abomination (similarly if you get Toxic Crowd and the Mall Tile Pack you won't have the Toxic Abomination)).

But, adding both (or even either) Toxic and (or) Beserker Zombies to the game adds a layer (or layers) of strategy, so I wouldn't just get the Tile Packs and not the new Zombie types.

Oh, and don't forget Dogz. They alone will force you to rethink your approach to Zombie management.

I personally think no matter what options you go for you're going to end up using 75% to 90% of it, so you might as well get it all! The Survivors bring new skills, which means new ways to approach the game, and though Zombivors are absolutely 100% optional you don't necessarily have to use the official Zombivor rules - there are plenty of alternative rules around (you could have dead Survivors turn against their former friends, for example).

this is fantastic.. i did some research and ended up getting the TCM as noted and am quite happy. I think the added zombie type, new heroes and the extras as you mentioned will be well worth it. I think ill end up getting S2 eventually (maybe in march).. but this should tide us over until then.

I did pick up a nice case today.. ive seen a few that people have been finding and just stumbled on one i think was practicaly built for this game! ;) Ill be posting in another topic though

Thanks for the info!
