I was wondering if anyone knows of a site where I can see the basics on how to make one of the orc big rock things.. I cant think of the name right now, its a big head with a shaman standing on it in the latest white dwarf....

I am relatively sure that is made with the \"insulation foam\" you can get from a Do it Yourself store.

Each component was probably made and shaped seperatedly, with alot of spackle and sanding to smooth things out.

There are special knifes you can get to cut it (woodland scenics makes a 2 inch bladed knife called FOAM KNIFE), but a hot wire cutter (available very cheaply in an arts or floral store) would allow easier cutting.

If its the same one I was looking at, they really did a great job with it.

Painting would have to be done by hand (at least for the primer coat) since spray paint will eat ugly holes into the foam.

Good luck, and post your efforts!!

heuu just wondering why you would find a hot wire cutter in floral stores ???
If you want to spay undercoat it you can apply diluted glue all over it first so that the spray dosn\'t eat it. Good luck :D

Just because the flowers smell so nice.....

No, really they use them to cut up similar foam to make flower arrangements. And usually the ones they sell there are very cheap (as in price, not quality)

Woodland Scenics and Games Workshop both sell one that prices at about 30 bucks. One at a hobby or floral store, which runs off batteries sells for about 7 dollars.

I don\'t know if GW is still selling the same one at that price, they may have upgraded, but for a while they were selling the same exact one I had gotten from a floral store.....(for a much higher price mind you)...

hey cool, thanks for the tip. I\'l tag along with my mom next time she goes to a floral shop :D
And I really think that GW\'s hot wire is a rip of, I mean 30 dollars for a batterie powered one !! And it looks like you can\'t even put your own batteries once the original one is empty. :flame: I\'m probably going to make one if I ever need one, it\'s really not hard to do and costs like 5 bucks if you do it your self :D

Or you could just be lazy and buy one from Forgeworld (scroll about 2/3 of the way down)

Probably a fair bit smaller than the others, but ready built ;)

I beleive he\'s talking about the Effigy of Gork. There\'s a tutorial in the Storm of Chaos book and I beleive theres a more detailed one on the Storm of Chaos Website in the hobby section.
